Variato is an Revit add-in that compares a host Revit document against a linked Revit model and identifies every element that is new, deleted, or repositioned between the two.

When you click the Variato button in the Add-Ins ribbon, a single configuration dialog opens. Select the linked model from a dropdown list of currently loaded links, then choose the Revit categories to compare. Choose between two output modes: Graphic Override mode applies a colour-coded override to a selected set of views in the host document, giving an immediate visual result in any 3D, plan, section, or elevation view; Shared Parameter mode writes the values NEW, DELETED, or MODIFIED to a named text parameter on every affected element, producing queryable model data that persists in the Revit file. Click Execute to run the comparison. Variato collects all elements from both documents, matches them by ElementId, compares their locations, and applies the selected output in a single Revit transaction that can be undone with a single Ctrl+Z.

BIM coordinators, structural engineers, and project managers use Variato to track what has changed between model issues during coordination rounds. After a linked model is updated and reloaded, Variato delivers a precise, category-scoped list of additions, removals, and positional moves — without relying on manual visual comparison or third-party coordination platforms. The output integrates directly into existing Revit workflows: graphic overrides feed into coordination review meetings, shared parameter values feed into schedules, quantity reconciliation tables, and handover packages.

Note: Variato 1.0.0 requires Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). It targets Revit 2023–2027 using .NET Framework 4.8 (Revit 2023–2024) and .NET 8.0 (Revit 2025–2027). A loaded Revit link is required before running any comparison. The installer handles all supported Revit versions in a single executable.
