Sequenza - 4D Construction Sequence Exporter

The Sequenza is an AutodeskĀ® RevitĀ® add-in that extracts construction sequence data from a Revit model and exports it as CSV files ready for 4D simulation in Navisworks TimeLiner and 3ds Max.

The Sequenza is an AutodeskĀ® RevitĀ® add-in that automates the extraction of construction sequence data from a Revit model and exports it as structured CSV files ready for import into Navisworks TimeLiner and 3ds Max for 4D construction simulation.

Sequenza reads the active Revit project, groups elements by level and category, assigns shared parameters that encode each element's position in the construction timeline, and writes three output files: a Simulations Identification CSV for Navisworks TimeLiner task import, a Simulations Components CSV for element-to-task assignment, and a MaxScript Animation file for 3ds Max playback. A built-in sorting editor lets coordinators refine the construction order for any level-category group before generating the final export. Six sorting methods are available, including proximity-to-origin sequencing for structural packages that radiate outward from a core or entry point.

BIM coordinators, 4D simulation specialists, and project managers use Sequenza to eliminate the manual work of building Navisworks task hierarchies from scratch. On a model with hundreds of level-category groups, building that hierarchy by hand can take days. Sequenza produces the same result in minutes, leaving the team free to refine the sequence rather than build the data structure. The add-in supports all major structural, architectural, MEP, and specialty equipment categories, covering the full scope of a construction programme from foundations to fit-out.

Key Features:

• Automated CSV export for Navisworks TimeLiner and 3ds Max — no manual task entry required

• Six sorting methods per group: ElementId, ProximityToORI, XYZPrint, YXZPrint, ZXYPrint, ZYXPrint

• ORI anchor system — designate any element as the construction start point for proximity sequencing

• Visual gradient preview in the sorting editor with live Revit viewport highlighting

• 25 supported Revit element categories covering structural, architectural, MEP, and specialty elements

• SimulationConfig.json audit file capturing the exact settings used for each generation run

• MaxScript Animation template for 3ds Max — ready to run without modification on standard exports

Note: Sequenza is compatible with Revit 2021 through 2026. The installer is a standard Windows executable that places the add-in into the correct Revit Addins folder for each installed version. An internet connection is not required to run the add-in.
