The HP 3D Printers for Autodesk® Fusion® add-in simplifies HP additive setup creation, connects Autodesk Fusion to HP 3D printers, and enables import of SmartStream 3D Build Manager (SSP) files directly into Fusion.
This add-in provides an integrated additive workflow that connects design and production within a single environment.
Core Capabilities
Create HP Additive Setups
Create HP-specific additive setups directly inside Fusion. Configure machines, customize print settings, and define build parameters optimized for supported HP printers.
Users can create, modify, duplicate, rename, delete, import, and export print settings. Customized build profiles can be saved and shared across teams to help standardize production workflows within an organization.
Connect and Send Jobs to HP 3D Printers
Connect to supported HP printers over the network and submit print jobs directly from Fusion.
Users can send:
- The active HP additive setup created in Fusion, or
- An external .3mf file generated by third-party software.
This allows Fusion to function as a centralized print submission interface for HP printers, even when build preparation is performed outside Fusion.
The add-in also provides:
- Build time estimates before submission
- Job monitoring
- PDF report generation for build documentation
Import SmartStream 3D Build Manager (SSP) Files
Open a single or multiple .ssp files originally created in SmartStream 3D Build Manager and bring them into Fusion as mesh components.
Imported builds allow users to:
- Review and save previously prepared build layouts
- Inspect and reuse build data
- Continue design and manufacturing workflows inside Fusion
This capability supports a smooth transition of build data into Fusion-based additive workflows.
Supported Printers
- HP Multi Jet Fusion 300 / 500 Series
- HP Multi Jet Fusion 5000 / 5200 Series
- HP Multi Jet Fusion 5400 / 5600 Series
- HP Metal Jet S100
The HP 3D Printers add-in centralizes additive setup creation, printer connectivity, and build data management within Autodesk Fusion.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
What else should I know about this product?
System Requirements
- Autodesk Fusion
- Windows 64-bit operating system
File Support
- .ssp (SmartStream 3D Build Manager files)
- Printer and print setting configuration import/export
Build Profiles
Users can customize print settings and create reusable build profiles. Profiles can be exported and shared within organizations to help standardize additive production workflows.
Reporting & Estimates
The add-in provides build time estimates prior to job submission and supports PDF report generation for documentation and traceability.
Network Connectivity
Printer connectivity requires network access to supported HP 3D printers. Firewall or IT restrictions may impact connection setup.
Are there any known issues with this product?
1. Large or complex SSP files may require additional time to import.
2. Some metadata from SmartStream may not be fully preserved during mesh conversion.
3. Import and submission performance depends on file size and network conditions.
4. Fusion restart may be required after installation before the HP panel appears.
5. Network configuration may affect direct printer connectivity.
6. The HP Jet Fusion 580 Color printer, which supported full-color 3D printing, has been discontinued. Fusion can connect and send jobs to these machines; however, 3MF submissions from Fusion do not include color data.
