The Express Document Tab program is a utility program that makes it easy to switch between DWG drawings in Autodesk® AutoCAD®.

Drawing switching command 

Quickly switch between drawings in Autodesk® AutoCAD®.

  • Left mouse button: When you click the left button on the tab of the drawing, move to the clicked drawing quickly. 
  • Mouse wheel button: Place the mouse over the Tab, push the wheel to move to the left, and pull it to move to the right. 
  • Ctrl + Tab: The Ctrl + Tab and Ctrl + Shift + Tab keys launch the Drawing dialog box and allow you to easily switch between drawings.

 

Tab menu commands

This is a menu function provided when typing the 'Tab' key in AutoCAD drawing or clicking the right button in Tab. 

- This menu is displayed when there is only one tab item selected

  • Close: Close the tab item of the Express DocTab where the mouse is located. (Close is executed even if it is not active)
  • Open the current tab only: Close all items except selected items.
  • Save all drawings: Close all open drawings. (Close script syntax in preferences is applied)
  • Save all drawings to another folder: Save all open drawings to another folder.
  • Save and close all drawings: Save and close all open drawings. (Close script syntax in preferences is applied)
  • Close all drawings without saving: Close all open drawings without saving them.
  • Save and close all drawings - Exit CAD: Save and close all open drawings and close CAD.
  • Close all Drawings without saving - Exit CAD: Close all open drawings without saving and exit CAD.
  • Open parent folder...: Open the folder location of the drawing in Windows Explorer.
  • Open as link file...: Similar to the shortcut file in Windows, it is visible in the Express Document Tab, but AutoCAD opens the drawing without opening it.
  • Open as Link Folder...: Select a folder and open the drawing of the folder with a shortcut.
  • Change to link tab: The open drawing changes to a shortcut. At this point, a drawing other than the active drawing is saved and closed.
  • Favorites: Display the favorite icon in the tapped item and click the mouse to open the drawing.
  • Add to Favorites: Add selected items to favorites.
  • Remove from Favorites: Deletes the selected items in 's favorites.
  • Open all Favorites: Open all your favorite drawings of Tab.
  • Add all open tabs: Add all items in Tab to your favorites list.
  • Previously Opened Drawings: Displays previously opened drawings as a submenu and opens or activates them when selected.
  • Script...: Select an AutoCAD script file and run it sequentially on all open drawings.
  • Batch script...: You can run a script against a large number of drawings without opening the drawing directly with the AutoCAD program.
  • Ascending: Tab Sort items in ascending order. (Sorted by file name)
  • Descending: Tab Sort items in descending order. (Sorted by file name)
  • Finding Drawings...: Finds and selects drawings by drawing name. (* Available)
  • Preferences...: Launches a dialog box where you can set the environment of Tab. 

 

This menu is displayed when there is more than one tab item selected

  • Combine selected drawings: Creates a new drawing and places the selected drawing in an Xref manner. At this time, the placement criterion is placed in the name-setting rule of "similar menu" (Y direction)
  • Horizontal tile: Place the drawing horizontally when there are two selected drawings.
  • Vertical tile: Place the drawing vertically when there are two selected drawings.
  • DWG Compare: Quickly compare two drawings (for AutoCAD 2019) 

 

Title Menu Commands

Menu commands are displayed when right-clicking in the AutoCAD title bar. (In Windows XP, it is also executed from the status menu)

  • Multi-monitor location: This feature allows you to switch AutoCAD programs directly when using more than one monitor (no menu is displayed when using a single monitor).
  • Open current tab only: Closes all items other than the selected item.
  • Save all drawings: Close all open drawings. (Close script syntax in preferences is applied)
  • Save all drawings to another folder: Save all open drawings to another folder.
  • Save and close all drawings: Save and close all open drawings. (Close script syntax in preferences is applied)
  • Close all drawings without saving: Close all open drawings without saving them.
  • Save and close all drawings - Quit CAD: Save and close all open drawings and close CAD.
  • Close all CAD drawings without saving - End CAD: Close all open drawings without saving and exit CAD.
