Creates a dissociated copy of dimensions in the current view.

Let’s talk about a common issue we all face while annotating or to be more specific, while dimensioning a drawing sheet in Autodesk® Revit®.

Dimensions are associated with a reference to an element in Revit views.

Suppose that the reference element belongs to a linked document. In that case, the problems arise when someone deletes the element to which the reference belonged, renames, or modifies the linked document without being aware of the dimensions associated with the elements in another document.

When the reference is deleted, the corresponding dimension also gets deleted.

This tool addresses this issue and tries to offer a solution by creating a dissociated copy of the dimensions in the current view.

The dissociated copies of the dimensions in the current view are grouped to be easily selected and isolated for visualization purposes.

As a standard workflow, we can hide the grouped dimensions in the view and refer to them in case we lose our dimensions due to one of the reasons we mentioned earlier.

This way we can remain prepared for any accidental loss of dimensional annotation in our project.
