Quickly locate and open your design files, using only your keyboard! Press a hotkey and type some letters of the filename. No more digging through the project tree.

Trial

Due to low popularity and complex maintenance, this add-in will be discontinued. As of 2024-11-01 it still works without any problems, but it will not receive any more updates.

Quick Open lets you quickly open files in Autodesk® Fusion®. Just press a hotkey and type some letters of the filename - Quick Open will present a list of matching files, just as in Microsoft® Visual Studio Code or Sublime® Text (no affiliations).

Features:

  • Find designs by fuzzy search, matching project, folder and file name.
  • Quickly reopen the most recently closed design(s). Recently used designs are shown on top. (The most recent design can be opened by just two key presses: Ctrl+E, Enter)
  • Show the currently open design file on the Autodesk Drive web page.

Ctrl+E is the recommended hotkey to use for opening files.

The add-in is available as a free trial for evaluation. The trial has no usage limit, but the user has to wait every time a file is opened using the add-in.

  • Is my data safe? Is it uploaded to the cloud?
  • All information gathered by Quick Open (the "index") is stored as a file locally on your computer.
  • Why can't I purchase the add-in directly in the Autodesk App Store?
  • The App Store does not handle VAT. Therefore, an external provider is used.

  • Files cannot be opened while Fusion is offline. Limitation in the Fusion add-in framework.
  • Files created on another workstation might take a few minutes to appear in the Quick Open index. Workaround: Tell Quick Open to do a forced update of the project.
  • Opening other files in other workspaces than Design has not been extensible tested. Please try your use case in the trial version before buying.
  • Support for multiple Teams/Hubs has only had limited testing.
  • When inserting, the "OK" button in the Move dialog is grayed out if the component is not moved. Workaround: Press "Cancel". The component will still be inserted.
