This add-in extends the Autodesk® Inventor® save and replace process.

Save and replace

You can set the default save folder on the fly during the save and replace process, choosing from:

• The parent assembly folder.
• The folder of the component being saved.
• The last folder used. This is stored separately for .ipt and .iam files, and can be reset when the project changes.

Other capabilities:

• You can replace suppressed components.
• You can save and replace multiple components at once. One Save As dialog box is displayed for each unique document.
• You can choose the processing level—the first level or all levels—for Save and Replace All only.
• The corresponding drawing can be saved together with the component, and its reference file is updated to point to the new component.
• The parent assembly can be saved automatically when you use the save and replace functionality.
• The Designer and Creation Date properties are filled in when you use the save and replace functionality.
• Shortcuts are available in the right-click menu.

Pick and replace

The add-in also introduces pick and replace functionality:

• Select one or more components —.ipt files, .iam files, or a mixture of both—and then select the component you want to replace them with.
• You can replace only the components you selected, or all instances of them.
• You can replace several different components with a single new one.
• You can choose the processing level—the first level or all levels—for Pick and Replace All only.
• File type does not matter: you can replace an .ipt file with an .iam file, and the reverse.

Autosave

The add-in also provides autosave functionality:

• You can choose an interval of 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
• You can choose whether all open documents or only the active document is saved.
• A save occurs only when one is needed.
• An autosave activity indicator shows when autosave is running.
