Room Finishes

BKJ Automation

Automatically generate floor, ceiling, and wall finish elements inside Autodesk® Revit® rooms from room parameters — in seconds.

$6.99/month

Room Finishes by BKJ Automation eliminates the repetitive manual process of placing floor slabs, ceiling elements, and wall finish layers inside Autodesk® Revit® rooms. Simply configure your room parameter mappings once, select your rooms, and let the tool do the rest.

Key Features:

  • Automatically creates floor, ceiling, and wall finish elements from room boundaries
  • Wall finishes automatically cut around doors, windows, and wall openings — no manual void cutting required
  • Maps to any room text parameters (Wall Finish, Floor Finish, Ceiling Finish) for type selection
  • Configurable ceiling height via room, Limit Offset, or a custom parameter
  • Preset system: save and reload your parameter mapping configurations for repeatable BIM workflows
  • Select all rooms or manually pick specific rooms directly in the Revit canvas
  • Overwrite mode: replace existing finish elements with one click
  • Supports Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027
  • Subscription-based via Autodesk App Store — no separate license server required.

How It Works:

  • Open a Revit project with placed rooms
  • Click Room Finishes on the Add-Ins tab, BKJ Automation panel
  • Map your room parameters to finish types, or load a saved preset
  • Choose to process all rooms or select specific rooms in the model
  • Click Generate — floors, ceilings, and wall finishes are created instantly.

Parameter Mapping:

  • The tool reads standard or custom room text parameters to determine which Revit floor type, ceiling type, and wall type to use for each room. Your finish schedules drive the geometry — changes in the schedule automatically reflect the next time you run the tool.

Developed by BKJ Automation — practical Revit productivity tools for architecture and construction professionals.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

System Requirements:

  • Autodesk Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, or 2027
  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • .NET Framework 4.8 or higher
  • An active internet connection is required for subscription verification on first use.

Notes:

  • The tool processes placed rooms only. Unplaced rooms are skipped automatically.
  • Room parameters must be of the Text type. The tool reads the parameter value as the finish type name to look up in the Revit project.
  • Wall finishes are placed as non-structural walls offset inward from the room boundary. Openings for doors, windows, and wall cuts are applied automatically.

In rare cases, rooms with highly complex or non-planar boundaries may produce a warning and be skipped. Review the summary dialog after running for details.

Rooms that share walls with zero-thickness separation lines may produce unexpected wall placement. Use standard wall-bounded rooms for best results.

On the first run after installation, Revit may display a security warning asking you to confirm loading the add-in. Select Always Load to prevent this on future launches.

Ceiling height placement in Revit 2023 uses a bounding-box lookup to find the newly created ceiling element. In projects with very high room density, ensure transactions are not interrupted during generation.
