Reference Links Manager for Civil 3D® helps teams identify and resolve broken or outdated connections when project files are moved, migrated, or shared between environments. The plugin provides visibility into linked content and simplifies corrective updates during project transitions.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Copy Package :

  • Click on refrence manager button in ribbon to view the category.
  • Data Shortcut XML files will be updated from the source DWG files copied to the destination folder.
  • External Reference paths within the DWG files copied to the destination folder will be updated.
  • Keep source folder structure
  • Use this category to copy source files (*.dwg, *.mms, *.xml, and XREF file types) files from a specified source folder to a specified destination folder.

  1.  Select the Source folder
  2. Add / Remove files from the Source files list
  3. Allows users to Keep source folder structure
  4. Select the Destination folder
  5. Copy the selected files.
  6. Closes the Reference Links Manager window

The Civil 3D Reference Links Manager application plugin only works with the following Civil 3D versions

  • Civil 3D 2024.3
  • Civil 3D 2025.2
  • Civil 3D 2026+

References Report

Creates a report listing all dependencies in the Civil 3D drawings, including the ability to choose external references, data references, or both.

Select the Project folder

Select DWG files by two options:

  1. Select DWG files by specifying Include and/or Exclude filters.Enter a comma delimited string of characters to match with a DWG file name to include and/or exclude.Files are selected recursively below the specified project folder.Include and Exclude filters are not case sensitive when matching against a DWG file name.
  2. Add / Remove DWGs to analyze by selecting them within folders below the specified project folder.
  3. Check this check box to report Data References
  4. Check this check box to report External References
  5. Assign the location for the report
  6. Create the References Report
  7. Closes the References Report window
