Traduco - Batch Translate all text in a model

AvantLeap

Traduco is an Autodesk® Revit® add-in that batch-translates all text in a model — names, parameters, materials, and text notes — in a guided five-step workflow with optional AI auto-translation.

Traduco is a Revit add-in by AvantLeap that batch-translates all text in a Revit model in a guided, five-step workflow. Use Traduco to migrate a model between office languages or naming standards — transforming hundreds of level names, view names, family types, materials, parameters, text notes, and schedule headers in a single session.

The workflow begins with the Extract step, which scans the active model across up to ten text categories and writes all translatable strings to a structured JSON file. The Auto-Translate step optionally sends those strings to an AI language model (Anthropic Claude or OpenAI GPT-4o) for automatic translation — batching entries to keep API costs low and consulting a growing global dictionary to avoid re-translating strings already processed in previous projects. The Review step opens an editable data grid where the user can inspect, correct, and approve each translation before anything is written to the model. The Apply step resolves each entry back to its exact Revit element by stored ElementId and applies all approved translations inside a single transaction group — giving the user one clean Undo step. The Validate step produces a per-category coverage report showing how many strings are translated, pending, or skipped.

Traduco is designed for BIM managers at international firms who need to migrate Revit models between office languages, hand over projects to partner offices in different countries, or standardise naming conventions across a multi-language team. What previously required hours of manual editing — or complex Dynamo scripts — is now a guided, auditable process with AI assistance and a permanent translation dictionary that improves with every project.

Key Features:

• Extracts text from 10 categories: Project Info, Levels, Views, Families, Element Types, Instance Parameters, Type Parameters, Materials, Text Notes, and Schedule Headers

• AI auto-translation via Anthropic Claude or OpenAI GPT-4o — no API SDK required, no DLL conflicts

• Global translation dictionary shared across all projects — reduces API tokens and cost over time

• Full offline review and editing in a WPF data grid with category and status filters

• Single-transaction Apply with one Undo step — safe to reverse if needed

• Coverage validation report per category before and after applying

• Supports Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 in a single installer

Note: The Auto-Translate step is optional — the full workflow can be run entirely offline using manual translations entered in the Review grid. API keys are held in memory only and are never written to disk.

Note: This app uses a custom installer (and not the standard Design and Make Marketplace installer).

System Requirements:

  • Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, or 2027
  • Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit)
  • .NET Framework 4.8 (Revit 2023/2024) or .NET 8.0 (Revit 2025/2026) or .NET 10.0 (Revit 2027)
  • Internet connection required only for the optional AI Auto-Translate step

Compatibility:

  • Revit 2023 (net4.8)
  • Revit 2024 (net4.8)
  • Revit 2025 (net8.0)
  • Revit 2026 (net8.0)
  • Revit 2027 (net10.0)

Privacy:

  • AI Auto-Translate is optional. All other steps work fully offline.
  • API keys are held in memory only and never written to disk.
  • No model geometry or personal data is transmitted to any server.
  • Full Privacy Policy: www.avantleap.com/traduco/privacypolicy
  • Shared Parameters: Renaming a shared parameter display name requires re-creating the parameter in Revit. Traduco detects these and surfaces a warning rather than failing silently.
  • Schedule Headers: The ColumnHeading setter behaviour varies across Revit versions. Traduco handles this gracefully but some schedule fields may be read-only depending on the version.
  • Very large models with Instance/Type Parameters enabled may take several minutes to scan. Use the category selection in Step 1 to limit the scan scope.
