BIM MinutesAG MEP 3D Router lets you route pipes, ducts, conduits and cable trays directly in a Autodesk® Revit® 3D view.
Free
AG MEP 3D Router lets you route pipes, ducts, conduits and cable trays directly in a Revit 3D view. At the open end of a run, a half-sphere of direction lines appears. Click a line and the run continues that way, with the elbow or bend added for you.
How it works
- Open a 3D view and click AG MEP 3D Router in the MEP panel on the Add-Ins tab.
- Select a pipe, duct, conduit or cable tray, or click it near the open end you want to continue from.
- Direction lines appear at that end: yellow goes straight on, red turns 45° and green turns 90°.
- Click a line. The next piece is drawn in that direction and connected with an elbow or bend.
- The new piece stays selected, so you can drag its end to the length you need. Run the tool again to keep going from its free end.
Tip: give the command a keyboard shortcut (KS). Routing then becomes: shortcut, click a direction, drag to length, repeat.
Features
- Works with pipes, round and rectangular ducts, conduits and cable trays.
- The new piece keeps the type, system, size, level and parameters of the piece you continue from.
- Rectangular ducts and cable trays turn the way a real bend does: the cross-section stays square to the bend, and cable trays keep their open side facing the right way on vertical bends.
- Elbows and bends come from your own setup: Routing Preferences for pipes and ducts, and the type's fittings for cable trays and conduits.
- Clicking straight on extends the same piece instead of adding a new one.
- Each step is a single Undo, and the direction lines are temporary, so nothing extra is left in your model.
Requirements
- Compatible with Revit 2020 to 2027.
- Works in 3D views of project files (not in the Family Editor).
- The direction lines are drawn as temporary model lines, so Lines must be visible in the 3D view. If a view template hides them, turn them on in the template.
- Each pipe, duct, conduit or cable tray type needs an elbow or bend assigned.
