Automatically creates dimension chains for walls, columns, and structural framing in Autodesk® Revit® plan views.

Free

AutoDimensions is a professional productivity add-in for Revit that combines fast automatic dimensioning with optional AI-assisted analysis powered by Google Gemini.

Instead of manually selecting walls, columns, and structural elements one by one, AutoDimensions analyzes the active floor plan and generates organized dimension chains in a few clicks. It helps architects, BIM specialists, structural engineers, and drafting professionals reduce repetitive work and produce consistent construction documentation.

The standard mode provides fast rule-based automatic dimensioning, while the AI-assisted mode creates a more context-aware dimension plan with exterior dimensions, local interior wall-to-wall dimensions, and overall dimensions.

Key Features

• Standard automatic dimensioning without AI
• Optional AI-assisted dimension planning powered by Google Gemini
• Intelligent separation of Exterior, Internal, and Overall dimensions
• Local wall-to-wall dimensions between adjacent parallel walls
• Multiple interior dimension chains placed in relevant plan zones
• Minimal, Balanced, and Comprehensive AI detail levels
• Preview and selection of proposed dimension chains before placement
• Detection and optional skipping of elements that already have dimensions
• Automatic dimensioning of walls
• Automatic dimensioning of columns
• Support for structural framing and beams
• Horizontal and vertical dimension chains
• Overall building dimensions
• Adjustable dimension offsets and spacing
• Automatic retry handling for temporary AI service or rate-limit errors
• Integrated F1 Help system
• Simple and intuitive workflow

Benefits

• Reduce repetitive drafting work
• Create exterior and interior dimension layouts in seconds
• Generate practical wall-to-wall dimensions for internal spaces
• Maintain user control by reviewing AI recommendations before applying them
• Improve consistency across construction documentation
• Minimize manual selection and dimensioning errors
• Choose the appropriate level of detail for each drawing
• Continue working in Standard Mode when AI services are unavailable

Standard Workflow

  1. Open a floor plan view in Revit.

  2. Launch AutoDimensions from the ribbon.

  3. Select Standard Auto Dimensions.

  4. Configure the required dimension settings.

  5. Click “Apply Dimensions”.

  6. Review and adjust the generated dimensions if required.

AI-Assisted Workflow

  1. Open a floor plan view in Revit.

  2. Launch AutoDimensions and select AI Analysis.

  3. Enter your Google Gemini API key when using AI mode for the first time.

  4. Select Minimal, Balanced, or Comprehensive detail level.

  5. Run the AI analysis.

  6. Review the proposed Exterior, Internal, and Overall dimension chains.

  7. Enable or disable individual internal chains if required.

  8. Click “Apply Dimensions” to create the approved dimensions in Revit.

AI Requirements

The AI-assisted mode requires an internet connection and a user-provided Google Gemini API key. Gemini API availability, usage limits, and data processing are subject to Google’s applicable terms and policies.

AI functionality is optional. Standard Auto Dimensions remains available without a Gemini API key and does not require the AI service.

Supported Versions

• Revit 2025
• Revit 2026
• Revit 2027

AutoDimensions is designed to provide a fast, reliable, and flexible dimensioning workflow for typical architectural and structural floor plans. Version 2 adds intelligent AI-assisted dimension planning while preserving the lightweight standard workflow of the original application.
