Assembly Hole Series

VanThanBK

Holes for bolted joints through every part of an Autodesk® Fusion® assembly, linked part files too: counterbores, sunk nuts and threads sized to ISO and DIN, a bolt list, one edit to change them all.

$8.00/month

Assembly Hole Series makes the holes of bolted joints through every part of a Fusion assembly, including parts saved as separate linked Fusion files. Fusion's Insert Fastener puts a screw into a hole that is already there; Assembly Hole Series makes those holes, sized to the standards, in each part the joint passes through.

Every part of the joint, one command. Pick the hole centres and the parts once. Each part gets the hole its side of the joint needs: a counterbore or countersink under the head, clearance holes in between, and at the end a nut, a nut sunk for a socket wrench, a captive nut or a tapped hole.

Sizes from the standards. Choose the screw (socket head ISO 4762, low head DIN 7984, hex head ISO 4017, countersunk ISO 10642), metric or UNC/UNF, whether the head sits on the surface or is sunk, and how the joint ends. Every size fills itself in: clearance holes to ISO 273, counterbores to DIN 974-1 and DIN 974-2, countersinks to DIN 74, tap drills to ISO 2306, and the depth of a tapped hole from the part's material (VDI 2230) with the drill overhang of DIN 76-1.

Linked part files, none opened by hand. Parts kept in their own Fusion files, also inside a linked subassembly (two link levels down), get their holes from the assembly. Every file is checked first, then each one is changed and saved as a new version, and the assembly is updated.

Change once, every hole follows. Edit a joint from M8 to M10 and the holes change in every part file, and the Fusion fasteners in them are resized. After parts move, Update All drills the holes in line again, and Audit Assembly checks every joint before you release drawings.

Bolt bought parts on their own holes. Pick the face of a motor, linear rail or bearing block: its holes become the centres and the size is read from them. Also adjustment slots, H7 dowel and shoulder screw holes, and the maker's holes for PEM self-clinching nuts, RIVKLE rivet nuts and heat-set inserts.

One cut through several parts. Assembly Cut cuts a cutter body of any shape (a bent pipe, a duct, a keyhole, a stepped bore) through several parts, local or linked, and keeps it editable.

A bolt list you can order from. Export Bolt List gives every screw at its standard length with its washers and nuts, counted, each row with an order designation such as ISO 4762 M8 x 25 and a search link, as CSV, a printable page or a PDF, plus a hole chart per part. The Connection Library keeps ready recipes and your own, and Batch Change resizes selected connections together.

Windows. Hole sizes are design values from the cited standards, not a joint calculation.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Requirements

- Fusion on Windows 64-bit.

- A Hybrid design with Capture Design History for creating, editing and updating joints.

- Signed in to Fusion, with an internet connection to start the trial and to check the subscription.

Where your data goes

Joint definitions are stored inside the Fusion design. Linked part files get ordinary Fusion hole and cut features and are saved as new versions in your own Autodesk cloud project. No CAD data is sent to VanThanBK.

- Windows only in this release.

- Creating, editing and updating joints needs a Hybrid design with Capture Design History.

- Linked parts: linked directly or inside a linked subassembly (two link levels). Configured, derived, read-only and out-of-date parts are refused before any change.

- To add or remove a part file of a linked joint, create the joint again. Recipes, Batch Change and slots work on local components only.

- Linked files are saved one by one; if a later file fails, the saved versions stay and are listed (no rollback across files).

- Sizes without sourced data (e.g. a sunk nut in M3, dowel pins above 20 mm) are refused.

- Hole sizes are design values from the standards, not a joint calculation.
