Extract Surface Details as Separate Bodies
Detail2Body is a powerful Fusion add-in that extracts surface details from solid bodies and converts them into separate Joiner and Cutter bodies. Perfect for kit-bashing, 3D printing, and design reuse.
What Does It Do?
When you apply features like fillets, chamfers, or holes to a solid body, they become part of that body. Detail2Body reverses this process:
- Joiners — Extracted bodies representing added material
- Cutters — Extracted bodies representing removed material
- Sub-Bodies — Copy related bodies that are not combined with the source

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Are there any known issues with this product?
Selecting the entire source body as a detail, or selecting a face that belongs to the source body itself, can cause an error.
However, this is handled gracefully — you will receive a message and can try again with a new selection.
Feature mode is faster but less precise, and requires more attention to your selections.
Face mode is slower but gives you full control over exactly which faces to extract.
In almost all cases, correct selections produce correct results. Incorrect selections will either trigger an error with a restart prompt or produce unexpected results.
