With less than one-tenth the cost to some other Electrical 3D modeling software, the iCable Electrical add-in brings highly efficient tools to Autodesk® Inventor® to bridge the workflow of mechanical and electrical design teams. It is ideally suited for users who demand electrical and mechanical design integration.

iCable Electrical contains two major portions: the full content of the iCable Professional App, which drafts all kinds of cables for most design scenarios in an assembly, and Auto Router, which automatically generates massive 3D cables for electrical panels or power systems in a quick, easy, and realistic manner. iCable Professional can edit any cables generated from Auto Router in the Assembly Environment. All generated cables are regular sweep parts. Any Inventor user can open and edit them with generic Inventor commands without needing to install iCable.

Auto Router is a powerful tool to generate a large number of cables connecting from/to terminals automatically along optimal paths within a routing network, using the shortest path algorithm. The functionalities of Auto Router include:

1. Assign intelligence to electrical parts.
2. Define the routing network in assembly with a dedicated 3D sketch tool.
3. Assign schematic names to occurrences in assembly if needed.
4. The "Route One" command selects 2 terminal pins and instantly generates a cable between connectors in assembly,following an optimal path along the routing network.
5. 'Route All" command: automatically connects all pairs of connectors with optimal paths based on connection information from an Excel file.
6. "Map & Go" command: reads schematic connection information from a fixed-format Excel file outputted from ECAD software, maps schematic names to occurrences in Inventor, and then generates all cables automatically.
7. Create a jumper and a multiple-conductor cable.
8. Fill ratio at a selected location on the route.
9. Cable report and cutting list for all cables, including information on length, OD, color, from/to, cable lugs and paths, etc. 
10. Auxiliary tools, including a cable marker, cable tie, and projecting holes and cuts to the back panel.
