C&K Quick Family Placer is a professional Revit add-in designed to dramatically accelerate how you find, inspect, and place family instances in your project.

In large Revit models loaded with hundreds of families, navigating through the default Revit Project Browser tree or searching Ribbon drop-downs is a slow, clunky process. This tool solves that inefficiency by providing a modern, fast graphical interface where you can instantly locate families, inspect their Revit-generated preview images, pre-configure hosting modes, and place them on the fly.

Once a family is selected, the tool hands control over to Revit's native placement cursor, allowing you to use all standard keyboard shortcuts (like Spacebar to rotate) and host elements correctly.

  • Instant Live Search: Type keywords into the search box to filter loaded families and types instantly by name or Revit element ID.
  • Real-Time Image Previews: Automatically displays the official Revit-generated preview image of the selected family type so you can verify graphics before placing.
  • Context-Aware Hosting Presets: For workplane-based and face-based families, a contextual panel appears before placement. Easily choose to:
    1. Place on WorkPlane: Align and host the family to the active Level or WorkPlane.
    2. Place on Face: Snaps and hosts elements onto sloped or horizontal model faces.
    3. Place on Vertical Face: Snaps and hosts elements to vertical surfaces (such as walls, structural columns, or panels).
  • Placement History Memory: Tracks your last 15 placed family types per Revit project. Double-clicking a history entry instantly initiates search selection and bypasses manual navigation.
  • Continuous Drafting Integration: Seamlessly returns control to Revit's native cursor for instance placement, ensuring standard drafting habits are kept.
  • History File Auto-Save: Your placement history is automatically saved to your Documents directory, preserving your context across sessions.

  • Automatic preview generator retrieves the family symbol's preview thumbnail directly inside the search interface.
  • The Quick Selection History remembers up to 15 recently placed families per model so you do not have to search for them again.
  • Seamless integration with native Revit element placement allows you to use standard shortcuts (like Spacebar to rotate) while placing.
  • Fully compatible with Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027.
  1. Project Environment Only: The app is designed to place family instances within Project (.Revit) documents. It will display a warning and is not supported for use inside the Family Editor (.rfa) session.
  2. Placement View Restrictions: Active placement depends on Revit's native engine. Ensure you are in a 2D or 3D model view where instance placement is allowed (elements cannot be placed while in a Schedule, Legend, or Sheet view).
