Serial to CNC

This add-on was developed to bridge the final gap between Autodesk® Fusion 360™ CAM system and the CNC machine. Many other CAM programs have this feature, and now Fusion 360 does too!

Many older CNC machines accept programs via RS-232 Serial. This makes it very quick and easy to send new programs to the machine.

This add-on requires the CNC Machine and Computer to have an RS-232 serial connection.

A serial connection is the fastest way to copy programs to machines.

Workflow with USB

  1. Post-program, and save it to the USB drive
  2. Unplug the USB drive
  3. Walk over to the CNC Machine
  4. Plug the USB drive into the machine
  5. Copy over the program

If you have to fix something in the program, start the process all over again

Workflow with RS-232 Serial:

  1. Post the program
  2. Open up the serial connection on the machine
  3. Send the program using the Serial to CNC add-on

Features:

Has the ability to save more than 1 machine profile for computers that are connected to more than 1 machine.

Automatically selects the last posted file (provided it's in the same directory).

Allows configuration of Baud Rate, Parity, Data Bits, Stop Bits, and COM port.
