Schema — View Layout Manager

AvantLeap

Schema is an Autodesk® Revit® add-in that captures a model's complete sheet and viewport layout as a portable JSON file and recreates it on any target model in minutes.

$19.00

Schema is a Revit add-in that solves one of the most repetitive tasks in BIM project setup: recreating the same sheet and viewport arrangement on every new model. BIM managers and template administrators who build drawing sets from scratch for each project can now define their standard layout once and apply it to any Revit model instantly.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Schema works in two steps. First, open a Revit model with your established layout and click Edit Schema. The Schema Editor scans all sheets and viewports and displays them on an interactive canvas — gold rectangles for viewports, blue for schedule instances — showing the exact geometric arrangement of your drawing set. Review the layout, adjust positions if needed, and save the result as a .schema.json file. This file contains no model geometry or project-specific data: only sheet names, viewport positions, sizes, and view types. It is fully portable and safe to share across your team.
  • Second, open any target Revit model and click Assemble Schema. Load the saved schema, scan the model to discover available views, and let Schema auto-match them to the layout slots. Auto-matching uses a combined scoring system that weights view name similarity at 60% and size compatibility at 40%, so the best match is always prioritised by naming conventions. Review the matches in the candidate panel — confident assignments appear in gold, lower-confidence suggestions appear in blue for manual review. Assign views manually where needed, or use Duplicate & Assign to create a resized copy of a view that fits a specific slot. When all slots are filled, click Assemble Views + Schedules to place every viewport and schedule instance on the correct sheet at the exact position and size defined in the schema.

SCHEDULE SUPPORT

  • Schema captures and places schedule instances as part of the layout. Schedules are matched to schema slots by name — exact matches first, partial matches as fallback. The placement uses Revit's ScheduleSheetInstance API with precise center-to-top-left coordinate conversion to ensure pixel-perfect positioning on every sheet.

KEY FEATURES

  • Extract complete sheet layout — all sheets, viewports, and schedule positions in one click
  • Save as portable .schema.json — human-readable, shareable, version-controllable with any tool
  • Visual canvas editor — inspect and adjust viewport positions before saving or applying
  • Smart auto-matching — name and size scoring finds the best view for each slot automatically
  • Manual override — full control to assign or reassign any view to any slot
  • Duplicate & Assign — resize a view's crop box to fit a slot exactly when no match exists
  • Schedule placement — auto-match and place schedule instances with the layout
  • Schema library — set a folder as your library and browse saved schemas from the UI
  • Multi-version support — compatible with Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027

Schema is ideal for BIM managers who standardise drawing sets across multiple projects, project teams working on repetitive documentation (timber, steel, precast), and Revit consultants who need to deliver standard layouts to clients without sharing full template files.

Note: Schema requires views to already exist in the target model. It places existing views — it does not create new view types or view templates. Compatible with Revit 2023–2027 on Windows.

Note: This app uses a custom installer (and not the standard App Store installer).

No known critical issues in this version.

Views must already exist in the target model before assembly — Schema does not create new view types or families. Title block families referenced by the schema must be loaded in the target model; missing title blocks cause that sheet to be skipped with a log warning.
