3DS ARCHITECTS3DS AutoSave
3DS ARCHITECTSAutosave for Autodesk® Revit® projects, templates and families, with per-file backup limits, shared backup folders, tab colors and grouped views. English/Spanish interface.
Free
3DS AutoSave 1.2.0 helps protect open Revit projects, project templates and families with configurable automatic saving and previous-version copies of local files. Open Add-Ins > 3DS AutoSave > AutoSave to access saving controls and view-tab organization in one English/Spanish interface.
Choose an interval from 1 to 240 minutes and enable automatic saving. Save now requests an immediate save and displays the result. The session section shows the latest successful save and the current saving status.
The Open files tab separates projects from families. Enable all files, all projects, all families or individual documents. Each local file can have its own backup limit. The default-limit action updates applicable local files and shows clear feedback; click Apply to store the changes.
Keep between 1 and 20 previous local versions per file. RVT projects, RTE project templates and RFA families in the same source folder share one 3DS BACKUPS folder. Each file retains its own history and limit. Open the backup folder from the file list to inspect previous copies. Moving a document creates new copies beside its current location; earlier backup folders remain under your control.
Tab colors help identify which document owns each open view. Configure projects and families independently, choose a sequential nine-color series and use a fine line, thick line, border or full-tab fill. Text contrast adapts to full-tab colors to keep view names readable.
Choose from 15 preset sequential color series, including the 3DS blue series, or create up to three custom nine-color series using the visual color picker, RGB values or HEX codes. Use Organize now or grouped views to keep views from the same document together.
Press F1 while the command tooltip is visible to open local contextual help. The header includes the official AutoSave logo and an optional 3DS account button. Use the same account as the 3DS website and applications for account benefits, discounts and closer contact. All AutoSave features remain free and available without an account; there are no licensing or trial requirements.
Save new documents manually once to establish their location. Automatic saving waits until Revit is available. Local copies supplement normal backup and recovery procedures; they do not replace central-model synchronization or Autodesk® Construction Cloud® history.
The package includes separate builds for Revit 2022–2027 on Windows 64-bit. Interface and help are available in English and Spanish. Local saving requires neither pyRevit nor an account, subscription or internet connection. Optional account operations require internet access.

Are there any known issues with this product?
New documents must be saved manually once to establish their file location. Automatic saving can be postponed while Revit is running another command, showing a modal dialog, or when a document is read-only or unavailable for saving.
Previous-version copies are intended for local files. Revit manages shared-model backups and cloud history; AutoSave does not force synchronization or remove those backups.
Use only one view-tab colorizer at a time. Local backups supplement normal backup and recovery procedures.
