Mate Origins
Bas Automation ServicesMate Origins
Bas Automation ServicesThis app allows you to create flush constraints between the origin planes of multiple components.
Free
Introducing the Mate Origins add-in for Autodesk® Inventor®. Constrain the origin planes of many assembly components to a single reference part in one action, instead of placing constraints plane-by-plane. Select two or more components, and Mate Origins makes the YZ, XZ, and XY origin planes of every component flush with those of the first item you picked — snapping the whole selection back to a shared origin.
A second command, Mate With Offsets, drives the same reference-based mating but lets you dial in a numeric offset per plane pair. Enable only the directions you need, type a spacing value for each, and optionally multiply the offset across the selection to lay out an evenly stepped pattern from one reference component. It's built for aligning duplicated parts, seeding assembly layouts, positioning fixtures, and creating spaced arrays without hand-placing dozens of constraints.
Key Features
- Batch origin mating – Every selected component is flush-constrained to the first component in the set; the first pick is always the reference.
- All three planes at once – Creates flush constraints on the matching YZ, XZ, and XY origin planes in a single command.
- Mate With Offsets – Apply a numeric offset per plane pair with a mini-toolbar to toggle the XY, YZ, and XZ directions on or off.
- Multiply Offset Value – Step the offset across the selection to build an evenly spaced pattern from one reference.
- Pick or pre-select – Run a command with components already selected, or launch it first and pick when prompted.
- Single-undo – Each run is wrapped in one transaction, so a single undo reverts the whole operation.
