Tube Route is an Autodesk® Fusion® add-in that routes rigid hardlines — brake, fuel, hydraulic tube — through assemblies the way a bender makes them: straight runs joined by fixed-radius bends. Pick the two ends, drop waypoints where the tube must pass, and the add-in fits the straights and arcs, checks the route against your bender's rules, sweeps a real tube with a wall, and writes the bend chart the bench or the machine needs. Opens from SOLID or ASSEMBLY → CREATE → Tube Route.
Key Features:
- Real Bend Geometry: The centerline is straights plus constant-radius arcs, never a spline. The chart comes from the same geometry as the solid
- Tube Presets: Fifty standard sizes by line type — brake, fuel, oil and coolers, AC, hydraulic (inch, metric), coolant and charge pipe — each setting OD, wall and the die's centerline radius. Every value stays editable
- Port-Aware Ends: Pick a hole's edge, a flat face or a fitting's seat cone and the tube leaves or arrives along that axis. An end off its port's axis is flagged with the angle, live
- Waypoint Routing: Place waypoints and drag them with Fusion's Move tool; route, numbers and checks follow live. A waypoint on an edge or face runs the tube straight through along that axis; a bare point is a single bend. Click the route line to add one there
- Waypoint Tolerance: Within OD ÷ 4 (editable) the tube may pass a hair from a waypoint when that saves a bend, so two marks a fraction off one plane get one bend instead of a two-bend jog. The route says which mark it eased and by how much
- Bend-Rule Validation: Minimum straight between bends measured tangent to tangent, bend overlap, radius versus die, a wrinkling warning below about 1.5D, and a mandrel note for thin wall at tight radius. Problem straights draw red
- Developed Cut Length: Straights plus bend arcs plus each end's forming allowance, checked against stock length
- Bender Tab: Choose hand bender or CNC and only that bender's settings show. Springback, stock length and every choice are saved across documents
- Mark Sheet for a Hand Bender: Cumulative marks from either end, at the start of bend (JD2, Pro-Tools, Rogue Fab dies) or at the vertex (Swagelok, Parker, Imperial), with leg, rotation, angle and bend-to angle per bend
- LRA / YBC for a CNC Bender: Feed, rotation, bend angle and radius per bend, tail straight last. Rotation sign, range (−180..180 or 0..360) and reference (previous or first bend) are switches, named on the file. Written as CSV or a numbers-only .ybc machine file
- XYZ for Exchange and Inspection: End points and every bend's corner point with its radius, CSV or .xyz
- Cut List: One sheet for every tube in the design — name, preset, OD, wall, radius, bends, lengths, end types, stock fit
- Springback Compensation: A measured percentage and fixed offset for your tube, die and machine; sheets carry the corrected bend-to angle
- Formed End Types: Plain cut, 37° AN, 45° SAE, SAE double flare and DIN/ISO bubble flare, formed in the solid from the SAE J533 and ISO 4038 tables, plus hose beads on a plain cut. Only the flares made for the tube's size are offered
- Your Own Tubes and End Types: Save the tube you run as a preset; add end types in a per-user JSON file
- Clean Assemblies: Each tube is one component holding its body, sketches and waypoints, with a named timeline group; Generate again rebuilds it under the same name
- Save and Reload Routes: Every tube carries its route and loads back off the model; Save Route writes a .json for any document
Use Cases:
- Brake, fuel, oil, cooler and power steering lines around an engine bay
- Hydraulic tube on machinery and mobile equipment; coolant and charge pipe
- A mark sheet for a hand bender, or an LRA / YBC file a CNC control can import
Requirements:
- Fusion 2026 or later
- Assembly or Hybrid designs only (File → Design Intent); Part designs are not supported
- Capture Design History on; the add-in offers to turn it on
