Bring your ERP into the age of AI assistants

The powerGate ERP Connector for AI is a connector that sits between any MCP-capable AI client (Claude Desktop, Copilot, and others) and your ERP system. It speaks the open Model Context Protocol (MCP) to the AI on one side, and connects through your existing coolOrange powerGateServer to your ERP on the other — SAP, Microsoft Business Central, Odoo, Infor, or any system for which a powerGate ERP plugin exists.

To the AI assistant, the connector simply is the ERP. Users ask questions in their own words — "Is the 100NB isolation valve in stock?", "What does assembly 9411-SP-012 consist of?", "Create this material in our ERP" — and the assistant reads and writes real records through a strictly bounded, auditable set of operations. The assistant talks about your products, materials and part numbers, using your vocabulary.

Because the tool set is fixed and identical for every installation, what an AI can and cannot do is predictable and reviewable. The ERP plugin — not the AI — always decides whether a create, update or delete is actually allowed, and every refusal comes back as a clear, honest explanation rather than a silent failure.

Try before you connect. The connector ships with a built-in demo ERP — a realistic manufacturing dataset with hundreds of items, multi-level BOMs, documents and a year of shipment history — so you can evaluate the whole experience on a single PC, with no powerGateServer and no ERP access required.

Key features

  • Plain-language ERP access for AI assistants — search, read, create, update, upsert and delete Items, BOMs and Documents through natural conversation in any MCP client.
  • One fixed, well-defined tool set — the same eleven tools for every deployment, so governance and review are straightforward; only which entity set they act on is chosen at call time.
  • Speaks your ERP's language, not powerGate's — the configured ERP name and your own business vocabulary (products, articles, materials, …) appear everywhere; the AI never needs to know powerGate exists.
  • Bills of materials in one step — read a complete BOM (header plus all rows, with child part numbers and quantities) in a single call; explode multi-level assemblies on request.
  • Document/file transfer — download and upload the files attached to ERP records (drawings, datasheets, previews).
  • The plugin decides, the connector explains — server rules are enforced by your ERP integration; every allowed and every refused operation is reported in clear language ("this integration does not support deleting items — no changes were made").
  • Administrator-taught business context — a simple configuration file gives each entity set a role and a plain-text description, plus per-property rules (required fields, defaults, allowed values, read-only fields) that the AI is taught and that are enforced on every write.
  • Runs on your own infrastructure — the connector runs on each user's Windows PC and talks only to your own powerGateServer on your network. No data is sent to any coolOrange or third-party cloud service.
  • Built-in demo mode — a full, stateful sample ERP for trials, training and proof-of-concept, with a one-command reset.

How it works

The AI client launches the connector on demand over standard input/output. The connector reads your powerGateServer's service metadata, builds a live directory of your entity sets and their meaning, and exposes the fixed tool set to the AI. All ERP reads and writes go through powerGateServer and its ERP plugin.

Note:This app uses a custom installer (and not the standard App Store installer).
