Generate clean, non-overlapping, GIS-ready boundaries from messy CAD survey data. Curve objects are automatically converted to line segments

$9.99/month

GISBound is a fast and reliable tool for engineers and GIS users who need to turn “messy” CAD drawings into clean, GIS-ready data.  While the built-in boundary command often has trouble with large object set and  small precision issues,  GISBound can handle these much better thanks to its custom multi-threaded engine.

Built for both speed and accuracy, GISBound can process tens of thousands of objects—like Lines, Arcs, Polylines, SpLines... —and convert them into properly closed 2D Polylines. It can keeps very high precision (up to 10⁻⁸), even when working with large projected coordinate values (up to 10⁶).

Key Features:

• Multi-core processing: Uses Parallel processing to take full advantage of your modern CPU cores. You can process 30,000+ objects and create 12,000+ boundaries in just minutes.

• High precision (upto 10⁻⁸): Unlike the classic JOIN command that may slightly move points, and the classic _BO command that may miss small corner, GISBound keeps coordinates exactly as they are.

• Handles large coordinates: Works well even with very large values (millions), without losing accuracy—great for big survey or infrastructure projects.

• Smart geometry pre-processing:  3D objects are flattened to 2D, curve objects are segmented automatically with adjustable accuracy.

• Smart geometry cleanup:   GISBound is specifically designed to detect and remove overlapping, nested, and duplicated boundaries, as well as self-intersecting ones (e.g., figure-eight loops with opposite signed areas)

• Keeps layer structure: Original layers can be preserved, so your data organization stays intact.

• GIS-ready output: Generates clean, closed POLYGON geometries as CSV or GeoJSON files, ready for direct use in ArcGIS, QGIS.

Why GISBound?

Default CAD tools can freeze or crash when working with big datasets. GISBound is designed to be stable and dependable, acting as a solid bridge between raw CAD drawings and GIS data. It works well on both older computers and modern multi-core systems, scaling performance based on your hardware.

License Notes:

1. 30-day trial available. 30-day Trial requires signing in to the parent Autodesk application with the valid Autodesk ID that did the download. No offline license is provided for the Trial version.

2. The user can run this App with the following:

(a) A simple signing-in parent Autodesk application with a valid Autodesk ID that made the purchase.  In this way, the user can run this App from any computer, provided that an internet connection is available; or

(b) An offline license file that is physical computer hardware dependent. After purchasing, please run this App, open the About... panel, and manually copy & send your registration info to the NTCL support email NTCLApp1@gmail.com. For more details, please refer to the License Registration Guide.  While waiting for an offline license file, this App still runs with full functions.

3. Users will get a message if this App is launched from a virtual machine. The app launched from a virtual machine will be limited in features.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

1. GISBound is designed to use multiple CPU cores, so it can take up a lot of processing power. Because of that, try not to run other heavy tasks (like video editing or rendering) while it’s working. Otherwise, performance may drop significantly.

2. The AutoCAD interface may become unresponsive or lag after long processing periods. If this occurs, click on the command line and press the ESC key, then return to the main interface and continue pressing ESC until AutoCAD responds normally.

In rare instances, certain closed boundaries may be missed due to random errors or algorithmic limitations. To generate a missing boundary, please re-run the "1. Create Boundaries" command using only the specific set of objects required to define that area.
