Hose Route is an Autodesk® Fusion® add-in that creates realistic flexible hose geometry through assemblies, such as hydraulic lines or air hoses.

The add-in opens a docked palette from SOLID → CREATE → Hose Route or ASSEMBLY → CREATE → Hose Route with two tabs: Hose Setup and Waypoints.

How does it work?

• Pick the hose's start and end points in the assembly, and optionally attach an AN / JIC / NPT fitting at either end
• Choose the hose size — the dash size sets the diameter and its rated minimum bend radius
• Place waypoints where the hose should pass; drag or flip them at any time
• Click Generate — the tool sweeps a solid hose body through the routed path
• Adjust waypoints or settings and click Recalculate to update

Key Features:

• Waypoint-based routing — Place directional waypoints that constrain the hose's path. Drag them in the viewport or flip their direction at any time; the hose follows one smooth curve with realistic bend relief.
• AN / JIC / NPT fitting library — Built-in fittings across the common dash sizes (straight, 45°, 90°, and more), modeled at correct dimensions.
• Fitting-defined exit direction — Each fitting sets the hose's exit tangent, so the hose leaves it the way real hardware forces it to.
• Custom fittings — Add your own fittings to the library; they are stored per-user and survive add-in updates.
• Minimum bend radius validation — Every hose is checked against its dash size's rated bend radius. Routes that can't hold the rating say so plainly and mark the trouble spots in red at the exact location.
• Automatic obstacle avoidance — A distance-field route planner built from your actual body geometry steers the hose around obstacles with proper clearance, keeping dodge points out of the last bend before a fitting.
• Cut length + BOM output — Exact cut length per hose, plus a bill of materials covering the hose and its fittings, ready to export for purchasing.
• Clean assemblies — Each finished route is a single component in the browser: the hose, both fittings, and its waypoints together.
• Timeline grouping — All generated features are organized into a named timeline group per route.
• Save and reload routes — Routes persist inside the document and can be recalculated any time; hoses and settings survive document close and reopen.
• Visual feedback — Color-coded start/end route markers, waypoint highlighting, and red problem markers where a sweep failed.
• Metric and imperial — Works in mm, cm, m, inch, and foot documents.

Requirements:

• Fusion 2026 or later updates
• Works in Assembly or Hybrid designs only (File → Design Intent) — pure Part designs are not supported
• No external packages required
