Spazio solves one of the most repetitive tasks in architectural practice: recreating a room layout that was already designed and built in another project.

When the same hotel room type, hospital ward, or apartment module appears across multiple projects, you normally rebuild the layout from scratch each time — repositioning every piece of furniture, re-specifying every fixture, redrawing every boundary. Spazio captures that work once and lets you reuse it anywhere.

EXTRACT & EXPORT

Open any Revit model with placed rooms. Click Extract & Export and Spazio scans every room — collecting furniture, lighting fixtures, electrical equipment, plumbing fixtures, mechanical equipment, and boundary walls. The extraction window lists all rooms with their area and element counts. Select the ones you want, set a filename, and export. Each room becomes a portable .spazio file — plain JSON that you can share, archive, or version-control.

BROWSE & FILTER

Open Space Library to browse all your .spazio files across multiple library folders. Add a folder for each building type — Hotels, Hospitals, Apartments — and filter packages by room name or area range. Click any package to see a 2D preview: the room boundary drawn as a closed polygon with furniture positions shown as dots. Instantly judge which packages are worth placing.

PLACE

Select a package and click Place. Make sure a floor plan view is active, then click the room origin point in the model. Spazio creates the boundary walls (matching type names from the source model where available), places a Room element inside the closed boundary, and recreates every furniture and fixture instance at its correct relative position and rotation.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

- Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, or 2027

- Families used in the source rooms must be loaded in the destination model before placement

FILE FORMAT

The .spazio file is plain JSON. It can be version-controlled with Git, shared via email, or placed on a shared network drive. It contains: room name, area, boundary loop geometry, and a list of all element instances with their family name, type name, relative position, and rotation.

TIPS

- Organise library folders by building type (Hotels\, Hospitals\, Apartments\) for fast filtering.

- Placement origin is the room center point. Click the center of the target space, not a wall or corner.

- If a placed room shows as unplaced (pink highlight), the boundary walls may not form a fully closed loop. Check for very short wall segments in the source model.

- The .spazio format is forward-compatible — packages exported from an older Revit version can be placed in a newer one.

- Missing families: Elements whose families are not loaded in the target model are skipped at placement. A summary dialog reports the count. Load the required families before placing to achieve a complete result.

- Curved walls: Boundary geometry is reconstructed from extracted wall segments. Curved or arc walls may produce minor geometric discrepancies at placement.

- Unplaced room: If boundary walls do not form a fully closed loop, Revit may leave the Room element unplaced (shown in pink). This can occur with very short wall segments or near-parallel walls in the source model.

- Wall type fallback: Wall types are matched by name in the target model. If a type name is not found, the first available wall type is used. Review wall types after placement.
