IDEA StatiCa Connection enables engineers to analyze, design and check steel connections/joints of any topology and loading. And does it in minutes.

It works as a standalone application as well as the next step in workflow started in programs Autodesk® Advance Steel®, Autodesk® Revit® and Autodesk® Robot™ Structural Analysis Professional.

Any topology:

• Welded/bolted connections, base plate, footing, anchoring
• Rolled, welded or cold-formed sections
• Cuts, stiffeners, wideners, ribs, openings, end plates, fin plates, gusset plates, stubs, cleats
• More joints in one project, complete code-checks, overall report, bill of material, drawings
• General cross-section - welded sections composed of any number of different profiles

Any loading and analysis:

• Nonlinear analysis of steel profiles and plates, bolts in tension and shear, welds, and pins. 2D or 3D loading
• Several design codes support (EN, AISC-LRFD, AISC-ASD, CISC, AS, SP, GB, HKG, IS)
• Buckling analysis - local buckling of any plate in the connection
• Stiffness analysis - initial stiffness and deformation capacity of any connected member
• Capacity design - check the connection on the maximal moment which can be taken by the connected member
• Design joint resistance - a ratio of maximal load to the design load
• Fatigue - determine normal and shear stress range between two load cases
• Fire analysis
• Horizontal tying

How to run IDEA StatiCa Connection for the first time

• Download idea-statica.msi install file and run it.
• Open the application with License manager
• Sign up for the 14-day free trial
• Fill in the web form
• Check your mailbox to get your credentials and sign in to IDEA StatiCa
• The license is activated, and you can enjoy using it

How to start using IDEA StatiCa Connection with Autodesk Advance Steel

• Install Autodesk Advance Steel
• Install IDEA StatiCa and BIM Link Installer is automatically launched at the end of the installation process. Select your version of Advance Steel and click the Install button.
• Open your project in Advance Steel, use the IDEA StatiCa – Checkbot button in the top ribbon
• IDEA StatiCa Checkbot is automatically launched and you can start the export

• Install Revit
• Install RobotStructural Analysis Professional if applicable
• Install Structural Analysis Toolkit for Autodesk Revit if applicable

How to start using IDEA StatiCa Connection with RobotStructural Analysis

• Install Autodesk RobotStructural Analysis Professional
• Install IDEA StatiCa and the BIM Link Installer is automatically launched at the end of the installation process. Select your version of Robot and click the button Install.
• Open and calculate your project in Robot, run the IDEA StatiCa – Checkbot button in the top ribbon
• IDEA StatiCa Checkbot is automatically launched and you can start the export

IDEA StatiCa Connection is based on a unique CBFEM method that combines finite element and component method. Model and mesh creation is fully automated and enables structural engineers and fabricators to properly check any joint according to various design codes.

The installation also includes IDEA StatiCa Checkbot for BIM workflows and IDEA StatiCa Member for analysis for stability-sensitive members.
