TA Roads Toolkit

TA Solutions

Batch road design automation for Civil 3D®. Build alignments, profiles, profile views, corridors, surfaces and cross sections for every alignment at once, or run the lot through the Road Wizard.

$25.00/month

Road design in Autodesk® Civil 3D® is not difficult. It is repetitive.

Creating one profile view is a six-page wizard. Creating them for forty alignments is the same six pages, forty times, before anything is drawn. Every stage has that shape: fine once, punishing at scale. The engineering judgement takes minutes. The clicking takes days.

TA Roads Toolkit replaces each of those stages with one dialog. Select the alignments, set a naming convention, run it once. Measured at around 70% faster across the full workflow, from centreline polylines through to cross-section sheets.

Start with the Road Wizard

Eight steps take centreline polylines through to finished cross-section sheets: alignments, surface and design profiles, profile views, corridors, corridor surfaces, sample lines and section views. Stop wherever you need to with "Create up to here", or run the whole sequence.

Or use the twenty-eight commands directly

Grouped on the ribbon in the order you work.

  • Alignments. Create them from polylines with a naming convention, optional curves between tangents at a set radius, and your own layers, styles and label sets. Reverse direction across a selection. Import label set styles in bulk. Assign profiles to label groups.
  • Profiles. Sample surface profiles for every alignment against your ground surface. Create design profiles from them, with PVIs matching the surface start and end elevations. Update profile and label set styles by keyword.
  • Profile views. Create views on a grid you define, with band sets applied as they are drawn. Re-arrange existing views into a clean grid. Edit data bands across a multi-selection, grouped automatically by band set. Import a band set style onto many views at once.
  • Corridors. Build them from alignments and assemblies with all sixteen frequency settings in one tabbed panel. Edit frequencies on existing corridors, merge several into one, and assign a target surface after the fact.
  • Corridor surfaces. Top, datum and generic surfaces, each applying the correct overhang correction and building an outer boundary from point codes.
  • Cross sections. Create sample lines for every alignment with the section sources you choose, and retoggle those sources on groups that already exist. Lay out section views on your own grid or by a native Civil 3D group plot style. Edit section bands across a selection, or import a band set style.
  • Intersections. Find every alignment crossing, check the design profile elevations at each one, and read valid and invalid crossings from a table. Create COGO points at the good ones, label them, and mark the bad ones.

The cross-section half, where most automation stops

Sample lines are the beginning of the work, not the end. Section views, their layout across sheets, and the bands underneath them are the slowest part of the job. Version 5 batches all of it, including native group plot layout for production sheets.

Built to run on a live project

  • Progress is shown with a running count and a working Cancel.
  • An item that cannot be processed is skipped and the reason is printed to the command line, so a run never leaves a half-finished drawing with no explanation.
  • Everything is created against your own styles, label sets, assemblies and surfaces, so the output lands inside your standards.

Who it is for. Civil 3D designers and technicians on highway, subdivision and infrastructure schemes, and the BIM or CAD managers responsible for the standards those drawings must meet. If your projects carry more than a handful of alignments, the saving starts on the first one.

Civil 3D 2025, 2026 and 2027.

Free 30-day trial. Then $25/month or $250/year, alongside a Civil 3D seat costing many times that.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Product page: tasolutionstech.com/products/ta-roads-toolkit

Requirements: Civil 3D 2025, 2026 or 2027, 64-bit Windows. The commands work against your own styles, label sets, assemblies and surfaces, so no template changes are needed.

About the 70% figure. It was measured on the full Road Wizard run, from centreline polylines through to cross-section sheets, not on a single command in isolation. Your own saving depends on how many alignments a scheme carries.

Also from TA Solutions. TA Auto Points for COGO points from polylines, alignments and corridors. TA Solids Extractor for 3D solids from surfaces and corridors. TA Intersections Checker if you only need the intersection elevation check, which is included here. TA Sheets Generator for turning the finished design into sheets.

For support, feature requests or bug reports, email support@tasolutionstech.com. We usually reply within one business day.

Please include your Civil 3D version, the command you were running, and any message printed to the command line. Where you can, a description of the alignments, corridors or surfaces involved helps us reproduce it quickly.
