Helix Generator
DesignRepCom.comHelix Generator
DesignRepCom.comGenerates 3D helix and conical helix curves directly in active Fusion sketch, with constant or variable pitch, taper angle, and full parametric control— matching SolidWorks Helix/Spiral functionality.
Free
HelixGenerator adds a native Helix / Spiral command to the Autodesk® Fusion® Sketch environment, filling a gap that forces many users to rely on workarounds or switch to other tools. The add-in integrates directly into the SKETCH → CREATE panel and works entirely within the active sketch, producing a single spline curve ready to use as a Sweep path or Loft guide rail.
Three definition modes: The helix can be defined by Pitch and Revolutions, Height and Revolutions, or Height and Pitch — the same three modes available in SolidWorks — giving full flexibility depending on what dimensions are known at design time.
Constant and variable pitch: Constant pitch produces a geometrically accurate helix sampled from Fusion's own analytical BRep engine. Variable pitch uses an editable table of revolution/pitch pairs; the pitch is linearly interpolated between rows, allowing compression springs, progressive-rate springs, and custom winding profiles to be modelled directly.
Taper: An optional taper angle produces conical helices, with independent control over whether the cone opens outward or inward. Combined with variable pitch, this covers virtually all spring and coil geometries used in mechanical design.
Additional controls: Start angle, clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation, and upward or downward growth along the Z axis are all independently configurable. All input fields and the result summary automatically follow the document's active length unit (mm, cm, m, in, ft) — no manual conversion needed.
Spline quality A quality selector (Draft / Normal / Fine / Maximum) controls the number of interpolation points per revolution, allowing a balance between visual smoothness and document performance. Normal is suitable for most springs and threads; Draft is useful for quick previews.
