About the Application

This application is a standalone administrative tool designed to help update multiple User Defined Properties (UDPs) in Autodesk® Vault™ using data from an existing legacy database exported as a CSV file.

With this tool, you can:

Map CSV columns and attributes directly to Vault UDPs
Apply metadata updates to preexisting files in the Vault datastore
Streamline bulk updates without manual entry

Limitations to Keep in Mind

Files must already exist in the Autodesk Vault datastore
Each file must have a unique name
Mapped UDPs are not supported in the current version — only unmapped properties can be used

Note: At this time, there is no built-in way to filter out mapped properties. We recommend creating dedicated unmapped UDPs for use with this tool.

If there's enough interest, future releases may include support for mapped UDPs with certain file constraints — so feel free to share feedback!

Important Note on Property Mapping

When using the tool to apply metadata changes in Autodesk® Vault, please be aware of the following limitation:

Mapped Properties Are Not Supported

If you select a User Defined Property (UDP) that is already mapped to a Vault system property, the tool will not be able to apply changes. This is a known limitation. For the tool to function correctly, you must use unmapped UDPs.

Unfortunately, at this time, the tool does not provide a way to filter or visually distinguish between mapped and unmapped properties. As a workaround, we recommend creating dedicated unmapped UDPs specifically for use with this toolset. This ensures compatibility and avoids unexpected behavior during metadata updates.

We understand this may introduce some extra setup steps, and we appreciate your understanding as we work toward improving future versions of the tool
