UCS Inspector improves the daily workflow with User Coordinate Systems (UCS) in Autodesk® Inventor®.

It helps you select, inspect, organize, and adjust UCS positions and orientations in parts and assemblies, with precise numeric controls, keyboard shortcuts, and visual workflow tools.

Key features

  • Select UCS directly from the model screen.
  • Filter and browse UCSs in parts and assemblies.
  • Inspect UCS position values: X, Y, and Z.
  • Inspect UCS orientation values in degrees.
  • Apply precise arithmetic changes using +, -, ×, and ÷.
  • Use configurable nudges in millimeters and degrees.
  • Switch movement mode between LOCAL and GLOBAL axes.
  • LOCAL mode moves the UCS along its own rotated or inclined axes.
  • GLOBAL mode moves the UCS using the document or assembly coordinate axes.
  • Text box relative input, such as +25, also respects LOCAL/GLOBAL mode.
  • Alt+Enter can force relative movement from typed values.
  • Express HUD for fast access to recent UCSs, screen pick, LOCAL/GLOBAL mode, and Gozalo mode.
  • Favorite UCS slots and recent UCS shortcuts.
  • Snapshot tools for saving and restoring UCS positions.
  • Quick actions: Center, Next UCS, Pick on Screen, Copy, and Paste.
  • UCS visibility tools: Show All, Hide All, Focus, and owner-aware selection.
  • Optional Gozalo workflow assistant for faster UCS connection and renaming workflows.
  • Event logging for support and diagnostics.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • Alt + Q / W, A / S, Z / X for quick UCS movement.
  • Alt + 1–6 for recent UCS slots.
  • Ctrl + Alt + L to toggle LOCAL/GLOBAL movement mode.
  • Ctrl + Space to open the Express UCS HUD.
  • Alt + D for measuring in millimeters.
  • Alt + G for measuring angles.
  • Alt + Enter to apply relative numeric input.

Typical use cases

  • Adjusting UCS positions in complex assemblies.
  • Moving a UCS along an inclined pipe, flange, or structural element.
  • Switching between local part-oriented movement and global assembly movement.
  • Quickly selecting recently used UCSs without searching the browser tree.
  • Aligning, reviewing, and correcting UCSs used for layout, fabrication, or coordination tasks.
  • Reducing repetitive clicks when working with multiple UCSs in Inventor.

Benefits

  • Faster workflow: Fewer clicks and faster UCS access.
  • Better precision: Numeric edits reduce manual placement errors.
  • Better control: LOCAL/GLOBAL mode adapts movement to the real modeling context.
  • Better traceability: Logs help diagnose support cases.
  • Lightweight UI: WinForms panel designed for daily CAD work.

Compatibility

  • Tested with Inventor 2026 and Inventor 2027.
  • Windows 10/11 x64.
  • .NET Framework 4.8.

Notes and limitations:

  • Tested with Inventor 2026 and 2027.
  • If a UCS or its parent document/component is read-only, UCS Inspector will not apply edits to avoid unsafe changes.
  • Some keyboard shortcuts may conflict with other applications or system overlays. Shortcuts can be customized in the Settings.
  • LOCAL movement follows the selected UCS axes; GLOBAL movement follows the document or assembly axes.
  • One transaction is used for each Apply/Nudge action, so multiple nudges may require multiple Undo operations.
  • In proxy or restricted network environments, Autodesk App Store services may need to be allowed for license or entitlement validation.
