Roof Catalog eliminates the manual process of building roof assemblies from scratch in Autodesk® Revit®. With a single click from the Add-Ins ribbon, you get instant access to a curated library of 50+ professionally defined roof assembly types spanning residential, commercial, low-slope, metal, historic, and specialty categories.

- 50+ Built-In Roof Assemblies — Asphalt shingle, metal panel, clay/concrete tile, TPO/EPDM/PVC membrane, green roof, BUR, modified bitumen, SIP, fire-rated, BIPV, and more. Every assembly includes accurate layer thicknesses, material assignments, and function classifications (Structure, Insulation, Membrane, Finish).
- Interactive Cross-Section Preview — See a to-scale layer diagram of every assembly before placing it, including material colors, thicknesses, and function labels.
- Add to Project — Places a real FootPrintRoof or ExtrusionRoof element in your Revit model using the selected assembly as a native RoofType with a full CompoundStructure. Falls back to a DirectShape in the OST_Roofs category when needed so elements always appear in roof schedules.
- Batch Placement — Select and place multiple roof types at once. Each sample is placed in sequence east of your building geometry with a configurable sample size (2′×2′ up to 20′×20′) and slope angle (flat, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, 60°).
- Create Detail — Generates a drafting view with a rendered cross-section drawing of the selected assembly, ready to place on any sheet.
- Place on Sheet — Places the generated drafting view directly onto a chosen sheet in one click.
- Quantity Takeoff — Tabulates all placed BKJ roof assemblies in the model: count, total area, average area, fire rating, and thickness. Export to CSV.
- Manufacturer Resources — Links to spec sheets and product data for compatible roofing manufacturers.
- Shared Parameters — Automatically stamps every placed element with BKJ shared parameters: Assembly ID, Display Name, Category, Fire Rating, R-Value, Slope, Thickness, and more.

Subscription & Licensing:
An active Autodesk App Store subscription is required. Entitlement is verified automatically against your signed-in Autodesk account each Revit session. No manual license key is needed.

Shared Parameters:
The plugin automatically writes a shared parameter file to:
%APPDATA%\BKJ_Automation\BKJ_RoofSharedParams.txt
and binds all BKJ parameters to the Roofs category on first placement.
Are there any known issues with this product?
- In rare cases, a FootPrintRoof may fail to place if the active Revit template has no valid base RoofType. The plugin automatically falls back to a DirectShape in the OST_Roofs category so the element still appears in schedules.
- On first launch, Revit may display a security warning asking you to confirm loading the add-in. Select "Always Load" to prevent this on future launches.
- In projects with very high room or element density, bounding-box scanning for auto-placement origin may be slow. Batch-placing a smaller selection resolves this.
- Workshared models: if the BKJ_Roofing workset is owned by another user, workset assignment will be skipped silently. The element is still placed; reassign the workset manually if needed.
