Shared Parameter Manager is a standalone Revit add-in designed to simplify the creation, editing, organization, and maintenance of shared parameters. It provides an Excel-like grid that allows BIM managers and Revit users to manage large numbers of shared parameters efficiently from a single interface.
The add-in works without pyRevit and reads disciplines, data types, and parameter groups directly from the Revit API, helping ensure that the available options match the installed Revit version. It supports Revit 2025, 2026, and 2027.
Key Features
Excel-Style Parameter Management
Manage hundreds of shared parameters through an easy-to-use tabular interface. Add, edit, duplicate, copy, paste, and delete parameter rows before applying changes to your Revit project.
Create and Bind Shared Parameters
Create new shared parameters by defining the parameter name, discipline, data type, group, parameter group, categories, and instance/type behavior. Parameters can be created and bound directly from the add-in.
Load Parameters from Project
Load shared parameters that are already bound to the current Revit project into the management table. This makes it easier to review, audit, and maintain existing parameter configurations.
Bulk Editing
Select multiple parameter rows and apply common values such as discipline, group, categories, or other supported settings in one operation. This helps reduce repetitive manual editing when managing large parameter sets.
Excel Import and Export
Import shared parameter information from .xlsx files and export the parameter table to a formatted Excel workbook. Excel import includes row validation, while exported files include a frozen header, filters, automatic column sizing, and formatted rows.
No Microsoft Excel installation or additional Excel libraries are required for the add-in's native .xlsx import/export workflow.
Project Updates
Re-apply categories, parameter groups, and instance/type settings to existing project parameters using the Update Project function.
Remove Parameter Bindings
Use Delete from Project to remove selected parameter bindings from the Revit model.
Validation and Status Tracking
Every parameter row is validated before creation. The status column provides feedback such as Created, Exists, Updated, Deleted, In Project, Invalid, or Error, helping users identify problems before they affect the project.
Templates
Save and reload parameter tables as JSON templates. This can help standardize parameter configurations and reuse parameter setups across projects.
Recent Files
Quickly reopen recently used Excel files from the Recent menu.
Parameter Information
The parameter management table includes fields for:
- Parameter Name
- Discipline
- Data Type
- Group
- Parameter Group
- Categories
- Instance/Type
- Visible
- User Modifiable
- Hide When No Value
- Description
- Status
The available disciplines and data types are read from the Revit API. Categories can be assigned to one or more parameter definitions, and multiple categories can be specified during Excel import using semicolon-separated values.
Typical Workflows
Create parameters from scratch:
Add a row, enter the parameter name, select the required data type and categories, then use Create Parameters.
Bulk-create from Excel:
Prepare a workbook with the required parameter information, use Import Excel, review the validation results, and create the valid parameters in Revit.
Audit an existing project:
Use Load from Project to review existing shared parameters, modify their settings where required, and use Update Project to re-apply supported bindings.
Remove parameters:
Select the required parameters and use Delete from Project to remove their bindings from the project.
Revit Compatibility
Supported versions: Revit 2025, Revit 2026, and Revit 2027.
Shared Parameter Manager provides a practical workflow for creating, reviewing, importing, exporting, updating, and maintaining Revit shared parameters from one centralized interface.
