Copies selected objects using a specified base point, similar to the Copy with Base Point function in AutoCAD.

This add-in adds two clear commands to the Autodesk® Revit®: Copy Base Point and Paste Base Point. With Copy Base Point, users can select one or more Revit elements and define the exact base point that should be used as the reference point for placement. With Paste Base Point, the copied elements can then be inserted back into the model using that same reference point, making it easier to place duplicated objects accurately.

The tool is especially useful when copying repeated layouts, details, model elements, annotations, families, fixtures, equipment, or grouped objects to another location while keeping full control over the insertion point. Instead of relying only on Revit's standard copy and paste behavior, users can define a meaningful base point, such as a corner, grid intersection, endpoint, center point, wall corner, column position, or other known reference location.

After objects are copied with a base point, users can also paste them using the standard paste shortcut, Ctrl+V. This keeps the workflow fast and familiar while still respecting the selected base point. The result is a smoother process for users who are used to AutoCAD workflows and want similar control when placing copied elements in Revit.

In Revit 2025 and later, the Copy with Base Point and Paste Base Point commands are also available from the right-click context menu. This allows users to access the tools directly while working in the model, without needing to return to the ribbon.

This add-in is practical and easy to use. It helps improve placement accuracy, reduce repetitive manual adjustments, and save time when copying objects between locations in a Revit project.
