CPMCAD - Critical Path Method Scheduling
CPMCADCPMCAD - Critical Path Method Scheduling
CPMCADProfessional CPM scheduling directly inside Autodesk® AutoCAD®. Import from Excel, calculate critical path, and generate Gantt charts — all without leaving your drawing environment.
$25.00/month
CPMCAD brings professional CPM scheduling directly into your Autodesk® AutoCAD® environment — no expensive standalone software required. Built for professionals who already work in AutoCAD, CPMCAD eliminates the need to switch between scheduling tools and your design environment.
WHAT IT DOES
CPMCAD reads your project schedule from an Excel spreadsheet and generates a fully detailed Gantt chart directly in your AutoCAD drawing. It performs full Critical Path Method calculations, including forward pass, backward pass, float analysis, and critical path identification — professional scheduling power integrated right into your CAD environment.
KEY FEATURES
Full CPM Scheduling Engine — Forward and backward pass calculations with Early Start, Early Finish, Late Start, Late Finish, Total Float, and Free Float for every activity.
Critical Path Identification — Automatically highlights the critical path so you can see at a glance which activities drive your project completion date.
Gantt Chart Generation — Creates professional, presentation-ready Gantt charts directly in AutoCAD with activity bars, milestones, progress tracking, and relationship lines.
Network Diagram — Generate a professional activity-on-node (AON) network diagram in AutoCAD showing predecessor/successor relationships, critical path highlighting, float indicators, and configurable node details (duration, dates, total float, resources).
Staffing Analysis — Load multiple project schedules and generate time-phased staffing utilization reports. Visualize per-person weekly hours across projects with stacked-bar histograms drawn directly in AutoCAD. Export staffing data to Excel for further analysis.
Earned Value Analysis & S-Curves — Track Budgeted Cost, Actual Cost, and Percent Complete to calculate SPI, CPI, EAC, VAC, and other EVM metrics. Generate S-curve charts in AutoCAD plotting Planned Value, Earned Value, and Actual Cost over time for visual project performance reporting.
Baseline Schedule Comparison — Save your original schedule as a baseline and visually compare it against current progress to identify schedule slippage.
Work Day & Holiday Scheduling — Schedule in calendar days or work days. Work day mode automatically excludes weekends and country-specific holidays (USA, Canada, UK, and more) from duration calculations and date placement.
Resource Tracking — Assign personnel, crews, and equipment to activities and visualize resource allocation on your schedule.
Lookahead Filtering — Generate 2-week, 3-week, or custom lookahead schedules for field coordination meetings.
Excel Integration — Import and export schedule data using a familiar Excel template. Update your schedule in Excel and regenerate the Gantt chart with a single command.
Data Stored in DWG — Your schedule data is saved directly in the drawing file. Open the DWG, and your schedule is right there — no external database or separate files to manage.
Constraint Support — Apply Start No Earlier Than, Must Start On, Finish No Later Than, and other constraint types to control your schedule logic.
WBS Organization — Organize activities by Phase, Sub-Phase, and Work Package using a hierarchical Work Breakdown Structure. Control Gantt chart visibility per phase or work package.
HOW IT WORKS
- Prepare your schedule in the included Excel template (or use the included example file to get started).
- Open AutoCAD and type CPMCAD to launch the scheduling window.
- Load your Excel file, set your Notice to Proceed date, and calculate the schedule.
- Generate a complete Gantt chart, network diagram, or staffing report directly in your drawing.
- Update progress in Excel or in the CPMCAD window, recalculate, and regenerate as your project evolves.
