Osmus Productivity Tools

Sumer Alhussein

Free productivity tools for Autodesk® Revit® 2023-2027: batch export to PDF, DWG and DWF, sheets from Excel, bulk revisions, stair paths, model text editing, selection helpers and cleanup.

Free

Osmus adds an Osmus tab to the Revit ribbon with more than 20 tools that take the repetitive work out of sheets, exports, annotation and model cleanup. It is free, runs in Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027, and every tool is undone in one step.

Exports Manager: export sheets and views to PDF, DWG and DWF/DWFx in one run.

  • Export profiles save the formats, their options, the file naming rules and the save location.
  • File names are built from sheet or view parameters, project information and the date.
  • Export a sheet list schedule, all sheets or views, from the host model or a linked model.
  • An export monitor follows every file with the time left. A file that fails, such as a PDF still open in a viewer, shows the reason and can be retried. Every run is logged.

Sheets and revisions

  • Create/Update Sheets from an Excel template; Sheets to Excel saves the template, filled with the existing sheets if you like.
  • Bulk Revision adds a revision to many sheets at once, or removes it.
  • Sheet Set by Revision builds a print set of the sheets that carry a revision.
  • Sheet Scale Parameter copies each sheet's scale into a text parameter for title blocks and schedules.

Annotation and model

  • Stair Path Pro creates stair paths for every stair in the selected floor plans, including stairs in linked models.
  • Edit Text finds and replaces text in model text and adds a prefix or a suffix, with a preview.
  • Re-center Rooms moves rooms and their tags to the center of the room.
  • Create Worksets adds a standard set of worksets to a workshared model.

Selection and cleanup

  • Pick only walls or only rooms, select hidden elements or the title blocks of sheets, and drop grouped elements from a selection.
  • Purge unused view templates and view filters, unplaced rooms, and the line and fill patterns left by CAD imports.

Everyday helpers: Warden asks for confirmation before Model In-Place, Import CAD and Paint. Schedule to Excel, Light / Dark mode (Revit 2024 and later) and Colored Tabs (Revit 2023 and 2024) complete the set.

Every button has a tooltip and F1 help. The dialogs share one layout: options on the left, the list on the right with everything selected, a search box, and a button named after what it does. Osmus checks for new versions when Revit starts, which can be turned off in About.

  • Colored Tabs is only available in Revit 2023 and 2024: later versions do not let add-ins color the view tabs. After turning it off, restart Revit to get the default colors back.
  • Light / Dark mode needs Revit 2024 or later.
  • Exports from a linked model run without a transaction, so the linked views are not regenerated before they are exported.

Osmus is supported by its developer, Sumer Alhussein, in English:

Please include your Revit version, the Osmus version (shown in About) and, when a tool reported an error, its log from %TEMP%\Osmus\Logs.
