Bnotes – Advanced Keynote Manager replaces Revit's plain-text keynote workflow with a fast, visual editor built for real BIM teams.

KEY FEATURES

Color-coded tree view

Your keynote file is displayed as a collapsible parent/child tree. Used keys appear in blue, unused keys in red, and parent/category headers in black — so you can instantly see what's active in the model and what's dead weight.

Live search

Type any part of a keynote key or description and the tree filters in real time — debounced for speed even on files with thousands of entries.

Inline editing

Click any keynote to edit its key or description directly in the detail panel, then save back to the .txt file and apply to Revit in one click.

Add, reorganise, and delete

Add child nodes under any category, add sibling entries at the same level, or delete keynotes with confirmation. Keys are auto-numbered to stay consistent with your existing scheme.

Text case tools

Convert every keynote description to Title Case, UPPERCASE, or lowercase across the entire file with a single click — ideal for enforcing office standards before issuing.

File management

Create a blank keynote file, or copy an existing one, directly from the File drawer. Bnotes binds the new file as the project's keynote source automatically.

Cloud file support

Working with keynote files stored on Autodesk Docs, Autodesk Forma, or BIM 360? Use the Refresh button to re-sync if Revit shows '?' question-mark tags on keynote annotations.

Worksharing conflict prevention (NEW in v2.0)

On workshared models with cloud-hosted keynote files, Bnotes prompts to Sync With Central on open and tracks who is editing via the Bnotes_ActiveUser project parameter. If another team member already has Bnotes open, a warning banner shows their name. When closing, choose to sync changes back to central or close without syncing. This flow is skipped for local keynote files — no extra steps when there's no conflict risk.

Keynote file recovery — Save Project Keynotes As (NEW in v2.0)

Lost the keynote .txt, or is the file path unreachable or cloud-hosted? Bnotes can export every keynote entry Revit has loaded in memory to a new .txt file in one click — rebuilding a lost or broken keynote file directly from the project itself.

Per-project memory

Bnotes remembers which keynote file you pointed it at for each Revit project — no need to re-browse every session.

COMPATIBILITY

  • Revit 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027 (Win64)
  • Standard tab-delimited Revit keynote .txt format
  • Cloud-hosted files: Autodesk® Docs® / Autodesk® BIM 360® / Autodesk® Forma®

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Installation note
Bnotes is digitally signed by BREVIT LLC using Microsoft Azure Trusted Signing, so Windows can confirm the installer genuinely comes from us and has not been altered.

Because BREVIT LLC is a new publisher, Windows SmartScreen may show a one-time "not commonly downloaded" or "Windows protected your PC" message the first time you install. This is normal for new software and is based on how many people have downloaded it so far — not on any problem with the file. It goes away as the install count grows.

To install:

  1. If your browser warns about the download, choose Keep (••• next to the download → Keep → Keep anyway).
  2. Run the installer. If you see "Windows protected your PC," click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. You'll see Publisher: BREVIT LLC — confirming it's genuinely from us. Continue through the installer.

• Cloud-hosted keynote files (Autodesk Docs / BIM 360): After another team member edits the file externally, Revit may show '?' on keynote tags. Click the Refresh button in Bnotes to re-sync. This is a Revit limitation, not a plugin bug.

• Very large keynote files (10,000+ entries): Initial load may take 1–2 seconds. Search and editing remain responsive after load.

• Revit must be restarted after manual installation or uninstallation of the bundle folder.
