Imāginārivs Universal Tolerance System (UTS)
UTS Apply Offset is an add-in for Autodesk® Fusion® that allows selected faces to be offset using optimized tolerances for 3D printing, based on real manufacturing parameters such as nozzle diameter, material, and fit type.
The goal of the add-in is to simplify a common adjustment in additive manufacturing workflows: compensating for tolerances without relying on manual calculations or destructive model edits. Instead of applying generic offsets or repeating trial-and-error operations, UTS Apply Offset integrates these adjustments directly into the design environment in a controlled and reproducible way.
The add-in operates at face level, allowing localized offsets to be applied only where they are needed. The user selects one or more faces, defines the printing parameters (nozzle, material, and fit type), and the system automatically calculates the corresponding offset value. Optionally, an additional manual offset can be applied and/or the offset direction can be reversed.
UTS Apply Offset includes a real-time preview, allowing users to evaluate the result before committing the operation. This supports fine adjustments and reduces unnecessary iterations during the design phase. Once confirmed, the result is recorded as a standard operation in the Fusion 360 timeline, allowing it to be reviewed, edited, or adjusted later without restarting the process, preserving the parametric integrity of the design.
This add-in is especially intended for users who design parts for FDM 3D printing, where small dimensional variations can significantly affect how components fit together. It is useful for both functional parts and assemblies that require controlled clearances, sliding fits, or press fits.
