What you can expect from the Egan Sheet Matrix application:
Automatically Renumber Views On Sheets
This app automatically renumbers views on sheets according to a user-defined matrix.
The app has been designed to conform with the Uniform Drawing System/ Drawing Area Coordinate System of the U.S. National Cad Standard. However, the app can be adjusted as required for each company.
Only Numbers System
In addition to the standard Letter-Number system, new for 2025, but retrofitted back to 2022, the app now will now assign numbers in a fixed-number system matrix. See screenshots. To accomplish this, any time a matrix is assigned with only numbers, the app will add the numbers together instead of combining them.
A sample preset is provided on the Settings Form and additional matrix possibilities are provided on on the Egan BIM Resources website: https://eganbimresources.com/sheet-matrix-help.html.
Typical Module Numbering
Typically, the app will renumber any detail that is placed on a sheet or moved on a sheet according to the currently assigned title block module.
Duplicate Module Numbers
If there is a detail already placed in the module, the app will renumber the detail with the correct module number, but append “X-##,” where “##” is a random number, to indicate that the number is a duplicate. Other than this convention, the user is responsible for recognizing and correcting duplicate module numbers.
Out of Matrix Numbers
If a detail is placed or moved outside of the matrix, the detail will not be given a module number but will be numbered “X-##,” where “##” is a random number, to indicate that the detail is outside of the matrix. Other than this convention, the user is responsible for recognizing and correcting details that are outside of the matrix.
See the screenshots below for more information.
Enable/ Disable By Sheet
The app provides a sheet parameter, “Skip Egan Sheet Matrix,” which, if checked, will disable the app for that sheet. This is useful for any sheet where renumbering of details may not be desired, like 3D views, door details, and title sheets. The app's default is to process all sheets.
Enable/ Disable By Titleblock Type
The app is based on the title block type. Only titleblock types that have a sheet matrix assigned will have details placed on them renumbered.
Enable/ Disable By Project
To disable the app for the whole project, do not assign matrix settings to any titleblock types in the project, or, use the settings dialog to remove all assignments from all titleblock types.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
What else should I know about this product?
When you make the decision to use this app permanently, you can assign Sheet Matrix settings to all applicable Title block types in your template. Then the app will not need to have settings reassigned for every new project.
This app is licensed by application, not by version. Your license will allow you to use any year’s version on your computer at any time, so the use of this app will not affect your Revit upgrade schedule.
Previous versions of the app are available on our website https://eganbimresources.com
Network deployment
If you want to include a network version of the Starter Presets File in your deployment, you need to establish this setting before continuing.
Start by selecting a network location to store the Starter Value Presets file. Go to the Settings Form, and the “Set Active Starter Values” tab. Make the changes desired as described above. Then go to the “Network” tab and export the file.
Then, go to the “Set Active Starter Values” tab. In the “File to use for starter presets on application startup” box, browse to the folder where the Starter Value Presets file was exported. When your application settings are exported, they will now include a network location for the preset file.
Please see http://eganbimresources.com/network-deployment-and-automatic-activation.html for additional information on the network deployment features of Egan BIM Resources apps.
Are there any known issues with this product?
This app responds to events in the Revit database and must respond to all eligible events to remain up-to-date. Therefore, to get the most value from it, each computer working on a given project must have the app installed.
A change in the internal storage system (Extensible Storage) was required between versions 2017 and 2018 but was not detected until 2019. Starting with version 2018, the Matrix applied to sheets may need to be reapplied.
