FDN - Find Double Nodes

STAND Engineering Consulting & Trade Co. Ltd.

FDN is an effective utility to find nodes in your analytical model that are close to each other but not connected.

Trial

FDN - Find Double Nodes add-in for Autodesk® Revit® enables structural designers to find nodes that are close to each other but not connected in the analytical model of a building. FDN finds unconnected nodes within the given margin and users may isolate then zoom into the selected nodal area and ultimately fix the problem.

With version 2.0 FDN got matured and now providing new functionalities along with a brand new user interface and a faster multi-threaded finder. Users may check the analytical model with the fundamental functionality “Find”. The list of nodes is visually presented to you via an interactive data grid. Through this grid, the election of a row simultaneously selects and indicates the node visually inside the Revit window.

A modeless window of FDN allows you to interact with the model while it is open thus providing you a smooth workflow. You can continue working with Revit while you are using FDN alongside. Once you select the node you can easily isolate it along with the other connected elements. You may zoom into the problematic area and with the isolated view and now you can operate in precision.

After installing FDN, users need to activate the software. A “Trial License” can be obtained for free that will enable full functionality of the application within a specified time frame. Please initiate your trial at the License Tab.

Users are strongly encouraged to try out FDN with a free trial license. After the trial period ends, a “Standard License” can be purchased that will provide 365 days to run the application again with full functionality. In-app purchasing and automatic activation provide a hassle-free system for licensing.

It is vital to set up the Analytical Model properly in order to carry out the FE analysis correctly. With the help of FDN, the analysis process is no longer prone to inaccurate analytical modeling due to analytical nodes not being connected to each other. BIM-WITHSTAND humbly presents you with this useful tool to support your structural design life cycle.

Analytical elements that have nodes that are too close in geometry but in fact not connected will cause problems in many steps of structural analysis. Such as the occurrence of finite elements which are very small, auto meshing process not converging resulting in incoherent mesh, incorrect stiffness matrix, wrong results and many more...

Finding the unconnected nodes manually becomes a huge dealfor a structural designer. Analysis software (Autodesk® Robot™ Structural Analysis, Sap2000, Etabs, Staad Pro, etc.) may provide tools to remedy this but consume considerable time and effort. It is better to find the problem with the main Revit model before sending it to analysis.

FDN will remove the trouble of manually checking the connectivity of each node, and save your time. By listing the unconnected nodes, you can now correct those nodes before sending your model to analysis. Especially in larger models where it is hard to see the connectivity, FDN will save your time and show those nodes flawlessly.

To check the connectivity easily, the user can select the node from the list and zoom into the area by clicking zoom and see (the structural elements that are relevant) with an isolated view. By isolating it gets easier to analytically adjust and correct the error. Furthermore, the modeless GUI window provides a smooth workflow. You can interact with Revit while you are using FDN. This is a huge plus as you do not need to close and reopen the application and work along with your model. When you pinpoint the error it is also easy to fix it by the tool provided with FDN.

Below you can find answers to some frequently asked questions:

1. How do I activate my product?

For evaluation purposes, a “Trial License” can be obtained for free. Trial License enables full functionality of the application within a specified time frame, referred to as “Trial Period”. This evaluation period is set to 30 days by default. Trial form will submit the filled information to the license server and activate your copy of FDN. A license is per machine only therefore it will be valid for the application and for the computer that it is issued for.

2. Can I use my license on another computer?

Our licensing scheme is per seat-based and your license is specific to the computer in which you have placed your request. You need a specific license for every workstation you intend to use our programs. Please contact us to have a quote for volume licensing.

3. Does FDN work with every setup?

Although we have tested many different setups and versions, glitches may occur on yours. Generally, if your system can run Revit, then our plugins will work. If you’ll experience any issues, please contact us.

4. Is it possible to use FDN while on analytical edit mode?

Yes, it is certainly possible to use FDN while working on analytical edit mode. Just launch FDN before entering to analytical edit mode and you can use it while editing your analytical model.

5. Can I get a refund if my product does not work?

Our products are non-refundable. We want to ensure that you are %100 satisfied so we provide a 30-day free trial version before you purchase any of our products. If you have any further questions, check out our refund policy in Eula.

6. How often will you be making updates to the plugins?

We plan to release updates on every new version of Revit. However, we can also make releases according to the user feedback and for bug fixing reasons.

7. Is academic pricing available?

The academic licensing is to be only used for non-commercial purposes. Those intending to use our software for educational and research purposes can contact us to acquire academic licensing. It is available free of charge for University members and students.

8. The program doesn't fully satisfy my needs. I have an idea to be developed to make it work better. What should I do?

We like lean methodology on our product development. And we appreciate every piece of advice and feedback from our users. Please contact us if you have literally anything to say about our programs.
