Pulsar StarSurvey Point Manager
Pulsar StarSurvey point toolkit for AutoCAD. Import and export 14+ field formats, plot points, and coordinate tables; pick or auto-number points; and keep your drawing and point list in sync.
$25.00
Survey Point Manager is an AutoCAD plugin for importing, plotting, editing, and exporting survey coordinate points inside your drawing. It is designed for land surveyors, civil engineers, and CAD drafters who regularly move point data between field software, spreadsheets, GIS tools, and plan sheets.
What it does
Survey Point Manager gives you one workspace for coordinate work in AutoCAD. Load points from common survey and GIS files, place them in the drawing, review and adjust the list, draw coordinate tables, and export the results back to the formats your office or field crews use.
Who it is for
- Surveyors bringing total-station, GPS, or controller data into CAD
- Civil designers working with control points, layout lists, and as-built coordinates
- CAD technicians cleaning up, renumbering, or extracting points from existing drawings
Main workflows
Import
Select a file, set format options where needed, preview the parsed points, and import them into the drawing. Supported formats include:
- General: CSV, TXT, Excel (.xlsx)
- Survey equipment: Leica GSI (8- and 16-digit), Leica IDX, Sokkia SDR, Leica HeXML, Trimble JobXML (.jxl), Topcon PNT
- GIS and mapping: KML, KMZ, GPX, GeoJSON
- Civil: LandXML (.xml)
CSV, TXT, and Excel files can be mapped to point number, easting, northing, elevation, and description. The Universal ASCII wizard handles custom delimiters and header rows. Excel imports use a visual worksheet mapper to choose the sheet and assign columns.
Export
Send your current point list to the same format families, including Excel, for stakeout files, GIS handoff, or return-to-field software.
Create and capture points
- Pick — add points by selecting locations in the drawing
- Auto — number geometry selections from a base point and prefix
- Smart — extract coordinates and labels from blocks, text, or other objects in the drawing
Plot points and tables
Place points using your chosen symbol, layer, and label style. Generate AutoCAD coordinate tables with selectable columns, custom headers, and a maximum row count per table.
Edit and verify coordinates
- Zoom to a point selected in the list
- Repick a point on screen while keeping its number and description
- Renumber the list with a custom prefix and starting number
- Optional live sync updates the drawing and coordinate grid together when points are moved, edited, or deleted
Track your work
The History tab logs import, export, and edit operations so you can review what changed during a session.
Settings
Configure default point display (AutoCAD point, block, or label), layers, colors, and text size. Save import mapping presets for files you receive repeatedly from the same instrument or client.
Getting started
Type "SURVEYPOINTMANAGER" at the command line to open the panel. Use the Import, Export, History, and Settings tabs to complete your workflow. The panel can float or dock and works well on a second monitor.
Productivity and accuracy
Survey Point Manager reduces manual copying between files and drawings, lets you preview coordinates before placing points, and keeps one editable list aligned with what is on screen. That means fewer transposed values, faster sheet preparation, and less rework when point numbers or positions change during a job.

Data model
Each point uses five fields: point number, easting, northing, elevation, and description/code. The plugin handles reduced coordinates ready for plotting in AutoCAD—not raw angle/distance observations.
Additional specifications
- Compatibility: AutoCAD and Civil 3D 2015–2027 on Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
- Mapping: CSV, TXT, and Excel files support custom column mapping; presets can be saved for repeat imports
- Drawing output: Points, labels, and coordinate tables use settings from the SETTINGS tab
- Performance: Optimized for lists up to 50,000 points; files above 100,000 points may load more slowly during preview or drawing
- Documentation: https://ahmedalsayed.work/projects/survey-points
Are there any known issues with this product?
- Performance
Files with more than 100,000 points may be slow to preview or draw. For everyday work, lists up to 50,000 points run more smoothly.
Drawing and point list
- The point list is linked to the active drawing. Closing the drawing or switching to another file clears that link.
- Editing coordinates in the grid does not always move points already in the drawing. Use Re-pick on the EXPORT tab, or use Draw Points again after large edits.
Data limits
- Each point stores only five fields: number, easting, northing, elevation, and description/code. Extra columns in source files are not imported.
- The plugin works with reduced coordinates only—not raw total-station observations (angles, slopes, etc.).
Extraction and UI
- Smart Pick and Auto Pick results depend on how points appear in the drawing (blocks, text, POINT entities, labels, etc.). Unusual or custom objects may not be detected.
- Theme selection (Light/Dark) in SETTINGS is not yet available.
