Steel Frame & Weldments Pro brings editable structural framing, tube folding, weld modelling, frame analysis and fabrication planning into Autodesk® Fusion®. It includes all the Standard framing tools and is built for fabricators, welders, machine builders, furniture makers and mechanical designers.
New: V-Notch & Fold
- Turn a connected run of frame members into one notched, folded tube, with the outside wall as the hinge and optional tab/slot weld seams. Set the bend radius, K-factor, weld gap, tab size and corner relief, with per-corner overrides; folds can turn in different planes. Square and rectangular tubes are supported, as are angle and channel sections with the leg or web outside the bend. Edit Fold and supported Edit Frame changes rebuild the part. The Cutting List shows it as one part with its developed length and notch table, and Export tubes writes the straight tubes as STEP files or into a new Fusion design.
Weld modelling and estimates
- Detect contact seams between Weldments parts, a frame or the whole design, including moved, rotated or repeated components. Create fillet beads with Smooth, Textured or physical Rippled finishes, intermittent welds on straight seams, and a weld schedule with joint IDs, joined parts, welded lengths and estimated deposited mass. Weld Cost estimates consumables, arc time, labour and cost from editable MIG, flux-cored, TIG and stick settings. Approximate quantities are marked in the schedule.
Frame Check and Frame Studies
- Apply self-weight, a distributed payload, a horizontal push, face loads and point loads. Choose automatic or custom supports, materials and a deflection limit. Frame Check calculates member forces and moments, screens stress and per-span deflection, colours members by utilisation and exports PDF and CSV reports. Frame Studies compares load cases side by side, combines them with your own factors (for example 1.35D + 1.5L) and compares saved design versions, with support reactions and an equilibrium check. Results use an idealised linear-static beam model; its scope and assumptions are recorded with them.
Editable frames and fabrication details
- Create grouped frames from sketch paths or model edges, with per-group profile, anchor, rotation, offsets and joint priority, miter, butt and coped ends, weld gaps and per-corner overrides. Edit a saved frame in place: recorded cuts, gussets, end caps, plates, Tab/Slot joints and weld runs reapply after supported edits, and anything that cannot is reported for review. Add gussets, end caps and base plates with rectangular or circular bolt patterns and slotted holes. Tab/Slot and Plate Tab/Slot joints locate members, gussets, base plates and plates you model yourself, including rings, discs and tube ends. Notch, Miter and Trim/Extend handle individual adjustments.
The library has 845 sizes in 43 families across EN/DIN, ANSI/AISC, JIS, Indian IS and aluminium extrusion. Add supplier sizes, import or export library CSV files, or capture custom sections from sketches. Frame Check supports the recognised section families listed in the Help.
Reports and cutting plans
- Export PDF and CSV cutting lists with model overviews, item balloons, member lengths, end-cut angles, plate dimensions, mass and surface area, counting repeated and nested components. Choose mm, cm, m, decimal or fractional inches, or feet. Add the weld schedule with weld symbols and tags, and component descriptions for Fusion Drawing Parts Lists. Stock Optimizer plans bar cuts by profile and material from your stock lengths, saw kerf, end trim and offcut threshold. Plates to DXF exports unique plate outlines with a quantity index and nests them onto stock sheets by material and thickness, with PDF layouts and sheet DXFs.

What else should I know about this product?
Requirements: Autodesk Fusion for macOS (a separate Windows listing is available). Internet access is required to start the trial and verify the license; after a successful check the add-in keeps working offline for up to 7 days. Keep Capture Design History enabled for the editing workflows, and use a Hybrid design when members should be created as components.
A purchase on either the macOS or the Windows listing unlocks the add-in on both platforms. A free trial starts on first use: 3 days, or 7 days with an active Standard license.
Pro includes all Standard framing tools, 845 profile sizes in 43 families (EN/DIN, ANSI/AISC, JIS, Indian IS and aluminium extrusion), custom sketch profiles, V-Notch & Fold, weld modelling and cost estimates, Frame Check and Frame Studies, base plates, Plate Tab/Slot, stock optimization and plate nesting.
Outputs include PDF/CSV cutting lists, Frame Check and Frame Studies reports, weld schedules and weld cost CSV files, bar cutting plans, plate DXFs with nesting layouts, and STEP files of tubes laid straight. Plate DXFs use millimetres.
Frame Check uses an idealised linear-static beam model, and weld quantities and costs are estimates; check critical designs against the applicable code.
The optional local AI/MCP server is disabled by default. License verification does not upload design files or project geometry to the license service.
Are there any known issues with this product?
Large frames, Rippled beads and multi-fold tubes can take longer to preview, rebuild or export. Some curved or complex contacts may have incomplete bead solids.
Weld types are fillet, and Square, V or Bevel groove on straight preparations or matching tube perimeters. Intermittent welds need straight seams. Weld quantities and costs are estimates; approximate values are marked ~. Run Weld Bead again after moving a component.
Frame Check uses an idealised straight-beam model. Curved or disconnected members are reported as skipped, and unsupported custom profiles, including T-slot/V-slot extrusions, can stop the check. It does not verify connection strength, buckling resistance or code compliance.
V-Notch & Fold needs Miter corners and matching sections; match the K-factor to a test bend and re-export tubes after edits. Saved details may need re-picking after unsupported geometry edits. Stock optimization and nesting do not guarantee the smallest stock order or layout.
