  • Steel Frame & Weldments adds a complete structural framing workflow to Autodesk® Fusion®. It is built for fabricators, welders, furniture builders, machine builders, mechanical designers, and anyone who needs to create welded frames from sketches instead of manually sweeping and trimming every member.
  • With the Frame command, you sketch the centerlines of a structure, select the lines, arcs, splines, or model edges, choose a profile, and let the add-in generate the members. A frame can contain multiple groups, so primary posts, rails, braces, curved members, and secondary members can each use their own profile, orientation, and joint behavior.
  • The frame system supports common end treatments such as End Miter, End Butt1, and End Butt2. Butt joints can use a simple cut or Coped cut, allowing members to be trimmed by a flat plane or notched to the body they contact. Group order controls joint priority: primary frame groups can be created first, while later brace or secondary groups are trimmed to them. This makes it easier to build practical shop-ready frames with predictable member interaction.
  • Each group has full orientation controls, including anchor point, rotation, X/Y offset, 180-degree flip, optional weld gap, and optional extension behavior. Members can also be created as separate components, which is useful for organizing larger frames, using Fusion Drawing tools, and reviewing individual parts.
  • Created frames are editable. Select an existing frame member, reload the stored frame definition, adjust profiles, groups, orientation, or options, and rebuild the frame in place.
  • The add-in also includes tools for single members, gussets, end caps, notch cuts, miters, trim/extend operations, profile library management, and custom profiles from sketches. Gussets and end caps include preview and edit/rebuild support.
  • The profile library includes common structural sections such as I-beams, channels, angles, T sections, rectangular hollow sections, square hollow sections, circular hollow sections, HSS, and pipe profiles. The library is CSV-based, so users can add custom standards, supplier sizes, or company-specific profiles.
  • For fabrication review, the Cutting List command exports CSV data and a PDF overview for frame members, curved members, gussets, and end caps. For large projects or highly detailed production documentation, users can continue with Autodesk Fusion Drawing tools using the generated components.

Requirements: Fusion for Windows. Internet access is used for Autodesk entitlement and license verification.

Cutting list output: CSV and PDF overview output includes frame members, curved members, gussets, and end caps. For detailed production drawings, use Fusion Drawing tools with the generated components.

  • Very large frames with many members, curved members, and coped joints may take longer to preview or rebuild.
  • Keep Capture Design History enabled for the best edit/rebuild behavior.
  • The CSV/PDF cutting list is intended for quick fabrication review and estimating. For detailed production drawings, use Fusion Drawing tools.
