W7k Extra is a free add-in for Autodesk® Revit® 2020–2027 that collects the small tools architects and BIM coordinators reach for every day, and quietly protects the model while you work.
On the ribbon you get one-click tools to copy names, marks, IDs, rooms, sheets and views to the clipboard, to add up lengths, areas and perimeters, and to switch the active view's visual style even when a view template locks it. A link browser shows every Revit link and DWG in the project and whether it is visible in the current view.
In the background, W7k Extra warns you when someone moves or deletes levels, grids, groups, Revit links or DWGs, flags imported DWGs and oversized families, clears the selection before printing so nothing comes out blue, and brings back Revit windows stranded on a monitor you no longer have.
Every background behaviour can be switched on or off in Extra Settings
Key features:
- Copy to clipboard – 17 tools copy family and type names, marks, type marks, element IDs, comments, descriptions, room numbers and names, sheet numbers and names, and view names from the selection. Works with elements inside Revit links and with items picked in the Project Browser.
- IFC GUIDs of selection – lists the IfcGUIDs of selected elements, copies them, or builds a view filter from them.
- Math – add up the length of lines, the area and perimeter of filled regions, and the area and perimeter of rooms. The result is shown and copied.
- Model Display Style – switch the active view to Wireframe, Hidden Line, Shaded, Consistent Colors, Textures or Realistic, even when a view template controls it. The template itself is never changed.
- Select Links in View – a live table of every Revit link and DWG, showing which are visible in the active view, with filters and one-click selection.
- Edit Current View Template – opens the View Templates dialog with the active view's template already selected.
- Reset UI – brings windows, palettes and dialogs back onto the main screen after a monitor is unplugged. It can also run automatically.
- Model change warnings – alerts for created, modified or deleted levels, grids, groups, Revit links and DWGs, with a snooze and a session-wide pause.
- DWG hygiene – warns when a DWG is imported instead of linked, moved, unpinned, deleted, or linked into 3D space.
- Large family warning – flags any loaded family above a size limit you set (3.5 MB by default).
- Clean printing and PDF export – clears the selection before output so selected elements are not printed in blue.
- Morning routine – turns off Drag Elements on Selection, pins unpinned links and DWGs when a project opens, and restores the workset you used last time.
- Right-click menu (Revit 2025+) – the Copy, Math and link tools, plus Reset UI, are available from the context menu.
