The Trainer - Chris Price

Chris began using and training others in the use of Revit (all disciplines) in early 2001 and has used it on a daily basis since.

An odd breed, he was one of the first complete Revit users not polluted with any preconceptions caused by the use of other 2D CAD software. He is a Graduate Architect who has found their niche in technology to aid the AEC industry. Above all, he enjoy facilitating and training others in BIM and aiding their success. He actively participate and moderate on such forums as RevitCity, RevitForum and AUGI under the username "Mr Spot" and run a blog (Revit Rants).

He is a BIM evangelist, digitalising everything possible for 4D Construction Sequencing, Clash Detection, Facilities Management, Fabrication, visualisation and everything else that can be leveraged from this Virtual Construction.  He focuses on the practical aspects of BIM and is always hands on, ensuring that not only is he across the theory, he has extensive knowledge of the details which so often trip people up.  Having been involved in projects at the fabrication level to massive multi-billion dollar hospital's, defence projects and universities his experience is extremely broad.  One of his great skills is being able to source the knowledge and team to solve the most complex projects where others dare tread.

Consulting Services

Do you have a difficult/challenging project requiring someone with expert level experience?  Chris Price has been involved with many challenging BIM projects and always succeeds, on time and under budget.  Some projects include:

KAUST: Breakwater Beacon

Consisting of nearly 1800 individual precast concrete hexagonal shapes piecing together somewhat like a puzzle, this project stretched the boundaries of what is possible in Revit. With the aid of Autodesk Revit and the structural engineer’s input we were able to rationalise a solution that was both constructible and meeting with the strict design constraints.

UQ: Global Change Institute

A highly complex building aiming to meet the Living Building Challenge.  Strategies include thermal chimneys, solar and wind power, solar air-conditioning, DC power, operable layered facades to control light and air together with social sustainability agendas for public education and workplace.

I was involved in modelling up all the structural elements to shop detailing level, and modelling and coordinating the services to ensure everything would fit in this 7 storey University Building.

Wintergarden Facade

Created with one Modular family (built from many levels of nesting) allowing for quantification and replication across the entire facade.

new Perth Stadium Facade

Created using Curtain Panel Pattern Based components, with built in nesting, tagging and extensive formulas to generate an LOD 400 model for fabrication.

Content/Library Development
